A word about fan mail

January 8th, 2012

It’s Sunday afternoon and I’ve just taken a break from writing (coming down the home stretch on the first draft of WISH YOU WERE EYRE) to take the dogs for a walk and enjoy this gorgeous sunny weather.  We don’t get too many afternoons like this in the winter in the Pacific Northwest.

I need to say a word about fan mail:  BEHIND!  As in way, w-a-y behind.  Sorry!  If you’ve written to me either by snail mail or email in the past couple of months, you’ll notice that I haven’t replied.  Um, yeah.  Between the holidays and this deadline, I haven’t had much spare time lately.  Hoping to get caught up by the end of the month, so please bear with me a little while longer.

And please know that I do love ♥♥♥ hearing from you!  There’s nothing better than finding a letter in the mailbox…

  3. Mimi Ginsburg says:

I am a huge fan of your books. I pretty much read only fantasy now with the exception of the Mother Daughter Book Club series and one other. I sadly haven’t read your most recent addition (I’m still waiting for it to be returned to my school library). I have always loved writing but still I don’t think it will be my profession.

    Your huge fan,

    Mimi G.

I just finshed Daddy-Long-Legs! Heather, you were right I LOVE IT! It’s alittle confusing sometimes ’cause you had to read in between the lines but it was AWESOMAZING!!!!

  5. jockgirl says:

TOTALLY fine! You’re working so super hard on your next book -therfore it will be awesome(!!!!!)- so i’m sure that ALL mdbc fans will be totally cool with it. It’s so aweseome that you even answer your fan-mail!! A lot of author don’t even do that! :)

  6. natalie says:

i hate that it says its for 9-12 year olds when they are my fav books and im 13 and a half.

    • heathervogelfrederick says:

No worries, Natalie — there are plenty of high school and even COLLEGE aged fans! Maybe I can get my publisher to change the age range to read something like “10 and up” instead. We’ll see…

  7. HannaH says:

no worries Heather! Being an author you have to spend all lot of time on writing! I can’t wait until “Wish You Where Eyre”! I am reading Home for the Holidays for the 2nd time! Since I only just got it ,it’s actually all lot! I wish I could’ve gotten to go on the cruise Becca, and Megan got to go on! Keep up the good work!

    • i love mdbc says:

I can’t wait for “Wish you were Eyre” also. I hope i will be able to read other books after the mdbc series because nothing compares to them. I read my fave chapter of “Home for the Holidays” 6 times. My cousin, mdbc’s biggest fan, and i are reading the “Betsy-Tacy” series.I hope they’re as good as mdbc.

  8. Margaret loves the MDBC! says:

Well at least Wish You Were Eyre is coming along!!! :)

  9. Completely understand, I know you are busy. I would rather you finish Wish You Were Eyre that read my letter!

  10. jockgirl says:

Im rereading dear pen-pal since i just finshed daddy-long-legs. I can see a TON of connections now!

  11. Alaina (Cassidy Fan) says:

“Wish You Were Erye” deserves the attention at the moment… Deadlines are deadlines… But no worries on the fan mail, Heather. We all understand. (:

  12. Marie says:

I find it easiest to read the books that they read first, and then read the book. Heather usually writes the books so that the characters are similar to or face similar conflicts as the books that they’re reading, so it’s fun to compare.

  13. CassidyS says:

Just asking: Do you know what the cover for your book, WISH YOU WERE EYRE, looks like yet? Do you like it? Don’t tell me what it looks like yet; I want it to be the BEST surprise ever!

  14. Kristie says:

IM A HUGE fan of your books! I absoulutely love the mother daughter book club series, and I just picked up the HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS one yesterday, and read it in one night!
I hope Becca softens up a little and finds her Prince Charming or whatever, and Meagan and Simon see each other more! And Cassidy becomes a LEEEETLE more girlier!
I mean, in the next book, Zach could ask her out and then the rest of the girls in the mother daughter book club, mostly Meagan, dress her up for the date!

  15. Anika says:

YAY!!!!!!!!!!! My friends and I were worried that you werent gonna make another MDBC book…. so excited for WISH YOU WERE EYRE!!!!!!!!

    Your HUGE fan,
    Anika V.

  16. Stacey says:

    Dear Heather,
I love your books. Please give me a rough draft Wish You Were Eyre. I really want to see it. By the way, please reply. And why is the new book Jane Eyre because Jess and Emma read that book probably a million times.
    Stacey

    • heathervogelfrederick says:

Glad you love my books, Stacey! Sorry, I can’t provide you with a draft of WISH YOU WERE EYRE, but I WILL be posting the first chapter here on my website in a couple of months. Hope that helps. As for the book club’s choice of JANE EYRE, it was inevitable — one of the classics the other girls haven’t read yet (Emma’s read everything, of course), and SUCH a great book — a must-read for every girl! :)

  17. Mackenzie says:

I was so excited to see my envelope on this website! Thank-you Heather! I can’t wait for your new book!!
