Happiness in a cup

January 14th, 2012

I admit it.

I’m a bit of a cocoa freak.

There’s nothing I love better than a good cup of hot chocolate!  Especially on a cold day like this one.  And especially when I’m writing.

My sister sent me the BEST PRESENT this week to cheer me up (I get a little cranky when I’m on deadline):  a kilo-sized bag of Callebaut cocoa.  Mmmm.  Bliss!  Especially when I froth the milk first, the way I did here (that’s foam, not whipped cream, believe it or not), and sprinkle it with a little cinnamon and nutmeg.

What’s your favorite hot drink?

Heather, who is going to be on the cover of “Wish you were Eyre”? All of the girls have been on covers. Are you going to start putting the boys or the moms on?

      • i love mdbc says:

Sorry for asking so many questions but is the mdbc supposed to be a book like Mr. and Mrs.Hawthorn were debating about? A book that is to get you to read the originals. If it is it’s working all while making a book that one day will have it’s own book that will make you want to read it….is anybody lost cause i think I am and I wrote it, well I hope this makes scense to you. :)

There’s nothing like a cup of hot chocolate after playing in the snow. My sister always makes it extra special and puts chocolate shavings. There’s a coffee shop that makes mint hot chocolate it is so delicious. My family also makes the best home-made potatoe soup during the winter the only bad thing about it is that it always gets eaten up so fast.

  3. Alexandra says:

Hot chocolate of course! What is Callebaut cocoa? My brother likes Mexican hot chocolate! *Shudder*

    • heathervogelfrederick says:

Callebaut is VERY expensive and VERY wonderful Belgian chocolate. YUM! I like Mexican hot chocolate too sometimes, with cinnamon and a little sprinkling of cayenne pepper. Not too spicy, though.

I love hot chocolate with those mini marshmellows that melt before you have time to eat them. Then the hot chocolate tastes all nice and gooey and marshmellowey. It tastes so extremely warm and nice. It’s annoying when my tongue blisters because I’ve burned my tongue on the hot chocolate so much. HOT CHOCOLATE IS SOO YUMMY!:)

  19. HockeyRules says:

Okay, I have a question for you, Mrs. Frederick, if you have the time. I’m looking for information on how to publish a book/how the publishing process works, but I honestly have no idea where to start. Do you know of any books or resources I could check out? Thanks a bunch!

    • heathervogelfrederick says:

Yes — check out the Writer’s Market (available at libraries and bookstores). They’re updated every year, and contain all sorts of helpful information about the publishing process, as well as detailed information on every publisher in the U.S. Another good resource is http://www.scbwi.org — society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. They have great info on how things work. Have fun!

      • Elizabeth says:

Thanks a bunch! That’s really helpful. Also, Home For The Holidays is on hold for me at the library and I can’t wait to read it!
