Drama is required reading in this spirited sequel to The Mother-Daughter Book Club, as the mothers have a big surprise in store for Emma, Jess, Cassidy, and Megan:  They've invited snooty Becca Chadwick and her mother to join the book club!  But there are bigger problems when Jess finds out that her family may have to give up Half Moon Farm.  In a seventh grade year filled with Anne of Green Gables, skating parties, a mother-daughter camping trip, and a high-stakes fashion show, the girls realize that it's only through working together -- Becca included -- that they can save Half Moon Farm.

• "Heather Vogel Frederick has written a delightful sequel to The Mother-Daughter Book Club.  Each character grows within the story, and the girls are growing up in a realistic fashion as well.  In these crazy times where so many lives are filled with stress, it is refreshing to sit down and read a book that highlights family and simple pleasures like ice-skating, book clubs, and camping trips (ill-fated though they may be!) Frederick manages to pull this off without seeming too good to be true or treacly in the least.  Fans of the first book, as well as those who enjoy Birdsall and Lucy Maud Montgomery, will eat this up."

• "Those who read girlslife.com regularly know that I am a sucker for all things Anne of Green Gables.  So when the sequel to The Mother Daughter Book Club came out, and I learned it used Anne of Green Gables as their current reading selection, I was elated.  I loved the original Mother-Daughter Book Club (where they read Little Women), so I was ready to dig in.  First Jo March, then Anne Shirley.  Sign me up. . . .  The girls are in seventh grade in this novel, and boys are beginning to come into the picture.  The sweet hints of blossoming love are just enough to keep the romantic in me happy, without overpowering what is the true center of the book -- the friendships between the girls.  Anyone with a group of girlies will totally relate to how different they are, but how well they fit together.  It's like they are each other's missing pieces.  OK, I have to go call my BFF now. . . ."
