      • hi i was wondering how did you come up with the books and if Zach and Cassidy start dating in the sixth book. Dude I’m kinda of obsessed with these books they are so good also who is your favorite character. πŸ™‚ Please reply
        Love Trissy

        • Oh gosh, Trissy — the books grew out of my own middle school years living in Concord. Lots of real things woven in, but a lot is just made up, too. As for Cassidy and Zach, you will have to wait and see. I don’t have a favorite character — well, aside from Gigi, who is everybody’s favorite grandma, right? — I love them all… πŸ™‚

          • Heather-
I was wondering if you are goign to write a sixth book? If so, when will it be published!? I just love the series and can’t wait for the sixth to come out (I have heard talk about a sixth). How many are going to be in the series; until the girls senior year?! I can’t wait! Please reply!

          • Sixth one will be out in September, Chloe — it’s called WISH YOU WERE EYRE. Sneak peek coming later this spring! πŸ™‚

          • For the next book? the 11th. For the reveal? Not sure exactly — probably very beginning of April!

          • Please make a 7th book. It would mean everything to me. Books don’t mean as much to me as Mother Daughter Book Club. The day I picked your 1st book up at the library I was just randomly picking books. But that randomness was a miracle. And if you won’t do college years try adult years. These books mean everything to me.

        • I really love your books!! Will you tell about the 6th book??? Thanks

          Love jazz. πŸ™‚ please reply

      • Hi Heather!
I have a question, I’m almost at the end of book four, pies and prejudice
Which is my favorite book so far!!!!!
I just read that Jess and Darcy hold hands, and I know that Jess likes Darcy, but I’m not positive if Datcy likes Jess, and in which book and chapter do they finally get together. ( if they do) and about Cassidy.
I thought she didn’t like the whole boy-girl thing!!! And now fom what I heard she dates Zach!?! Can you explain this to me? And with Third and Becca!!!!!!!

        • Guess what? ALL WILL BE REVEALED when you read the next two books… πŸ˜€ How’s that for sneaky?!

        • Doesn’t look like it–WISH YOU WERE EYRE is the last one. But I’m busy working on a NEW book that I hope my MDBC readers will enjoy!

          • Please write a 7th! I love the book so much I read like 2 of them over one weekend!!! I know that since 2007 one book has come out every year all the way to 2012 and I have been waiting all 2013 to see if a 7th book was coming. I thought there was going to be one because they stopped right at sophomore year and I think they should go until they hit college and stop. I love them too much to not care about a 7th! I want to see what happens to everyone in the upcoming year:) I almost cried after I finished the 6th because I likethe characters so much!!! Please write a 7th! It would be amazing!!!! I would be the first to buy it! I love the series soooooo much. Everytime I go to Barnes and noble I always check in the section if a 7th has come out! It would be awesome if there was an 8th too!
            Please respond!

          • Can you PLEASE write an seventh mother daughter book club book? I really want you to and i also need you to cause left a lot hangin after wish you were eyre. I need to know what happens after darcy and stewart go to college and what happens with gigi and the wongs and their new family. Please write a seventh book.

          • Hi!!! I’m a VERY big fan of the MDBC series! I literally cannot ever stop reading them. I still remember when I got the first book at the book store. After reading I just HAD to get the other books! Anyways, I was wondering if there will be future books after the 6th one? I really hope there will be!!

          • Awwww that’s sooo sad! I love these books!!! Are you making a movie?????????? That would be cool because I love to be like ” I read the book and that’s not what happened! I could have made a better movie!” Well I like to imagine what they look like anyway so whatever. I just go the greatest idea what if you wrote about Chloe Kinkaid and her friends and how Mrs.Slone-Kinkaid had a book club for them too. Just an idea, maybe you are sick of this hole book club thing. I don’t know.

          • Never sick of the book club, Grace! As for the possibility of my books being turned into movies,Β alas, that isn’t something I can control. The way it works is that someone Β in Hollywood — an actor, director, producer, etc. — has to discover a book and think, “Wow, this would make a great movie!” Β Then they take it from there. Β Let’s keep our fingers crossed, though, OK? Β I think it’s a wonderful idea.

          • Hey Heather! So I’ve been re-reading all the MDBC books over the beginning of this summer, and I’ve just started on the 6th book, Wish You Were Eyre. And I suddenly realized how much I didn’t want it to end, I just wanted to keep reading them forever! And until someone invents a never ending book, I guess that’s a fate that all readers have a face one day or another. But anyway, to the point, I AM DYING INSIDE BECAUSE THERE IS NO SEVENTH BOOK. I read some of the other comments and found out that you were in the process of writing it about a year ago and I was wondering if it would be coming out or at least a sneak peak soon?? Do enlighten me :3

          • Emily, there IS a 7th book in the works! It’s called “Mother-Daughter Book Camp,” and it will be out next spring or summer. Stay tuned for more information, and for a sneak preview, and for a peek at the AWESOME cover! All coming soon… πŸ™‚

        • I really think u should do a seventh book. I ❀️❀️❣ the MDBC books!

      • Hi Heather,
I absolutely love the mother daughter book club it is probably the best book series I have ever read no lie. I would really love it if you would write the books up until the girls senior year and I know you’re coming out with the seventh book next summer so I’m very excited for that. The last thing I wanted to say is that you should really make a movie I would love for that to happen, if you made a movie I honestly don’t know what I’d do I guess I would probably freak out and be super excited!:)

        • Dana! What a lovely comment to find waiting for me! πŸ™‚ And yes, I am hard at work on a 7th book. As for a movie, that’s not something I can control, so keep your fingers crossed that maybe someone in Hollywood thinks it’s a good idea, too! πŸ˜‰

      • Hi Heather please check out the book review I did of The Mother Daughter Book Club on my YouTube channel. I really hope you like it and hopefully people who see it decide to read the series!:)

    • I know! Heather you are my favorite author! I love the series so much I’ve read it like, 10times, no joke! I can’ t wait for the 6th to come out! Does Becca go out with Third?

      • i’m soooooo excited, in the sixth book , who does Cassidy pick? Tristan or Zach? My favorite Character is…all of them!!!!!!!!!!

          • Unfortunately, that isn’t something I can control, Emma. The way it works is that someone in Hollywood — an actor, director, producer, etc. — has to discover a book and think, “Wow, this would make a great movie!” Β Then they take it from there. Β Let’s keep our fingers crossed, though, OK? Β I think it’s a wonderful idea.

    • I just finished the sixth book from the MDBC series and loved it….I was wondering, will there be any more books and if so, how many?

      • WISH YOU WERE EYRE is the last book in the series, Hannah, BUT I am cooking up an entirely new book that I hope you’ll like, too! πŸ™‚

        • if you would have made a seventh book, would you have made Jess and Darcy get married and him propose in a romantic way? Because of your books i have fallen in love with Darcy. I’ve written down all of the romantic parts on a paper as I go along. My favorite part of the sixth book is pages 85-86 when Jess is talking. She and Darcy are sooooooo the cutest couple ever. I hope me and my future husband are like them!!!!!!!!!!

          • Ooo, you are a romantic at heart, aren’t you Jojo! I think you should write your own happy ending for Jess and Darcy. I love it when characters live on in the minds of my readers!

        • It can’t end:((((( it should end at college! There should be 8 books! I would be so happy if a movie came out!!!!! The girls on the cover of the books should be the actresses in the movie! They look just like the girls in my head!!! Btw I tried reading jane eyre. I rented it from the library but it was too hard for me to understand:( maybe in a few years:) this series has inspired me to read all the books that they read

          • Yes, do give JANE EYRE a try again in a few years. Some of them are a stretch, I know — but SO worth it when you’re ready for them! πŸ™‚

  1. I love your books!!! They are the best books I’ve
ever read! I was wondering if you were going to make
a fifth book in the series? Thanks for your time!

      • I just love your books i think i am like cassidy anyway I can’t wait for the fifth and sixth this is my second favorite book after harry potter what will be the name of the sixth

      • I didn’t know that the boooks were in order ,so I read Dear Pen Pal first ,and now I’m reading Pies and Prejudice. But, they’re still really good

      • I have a friend, both of us are HUGE fans of your books! We were even thinking of starting our own book club. She’s going to be SO excited when she hears there is going to be a 6th book !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:):)

  2. Hi! I’m a big fan of the Mother daughter Book Club books, and I noticed there is a picture of a different girl on each cover. Are these pictures of Emma, Jess, Cassidy, and Megan? And if they are what girl is on the cover of each book?

  3. Hi! My friends and I are doing a mother-daughter book club, and the first book we read was the Mother-Daughter Book Club books! They are amazing! I begged my mom to get me the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th after. Who will be on the 6th book? Ashley? Or maybe Savannah! She could join the book club in the 5th book! That would be really interesting to hear her point of view!

    • Hi there — Not sure who’s going to be on the 6th book. Becca will be on the 5th. Possibly the entire book club on the 6th? I like the idea of Savannah, though… πŸ˜‰

        • I think Savannah or one of the Wyoming girls should be on the 6th. I recieved the fifth book three days ago and already finished it! However, I think there should be less kissing and liking and romance in the sixth. But I’m sure it will get better!

          • I think Savannah or one of the Wyoming girls should be on the 6th. I recieved the fifth book three days ago and already finished it! However, I think there should be less kissing and liking and romance in the sixth. But I’m sure it will get better!

          • Oh Maggie, I do hate to disappoint you! The girls in my book club are getting older, though, and therefore more interested in romance than when they were in 6th grade. I hope it will get better too, though! πŸ™‚ And the Wyoming girls WILL be back in the 6th book — hooray!

          • I would have to disagree with you on the romance… I think there should be a bit more. I think that Savanna joining is a really good idea:)

        • In my opinion, I think that all the girls should be on the sixth book, but you should add savannah on the sixth book! sure, there should probably be more (exhales in relief and makes an embarassed grin)

        • Well, they’ll be reading JANE EYRE. And there will be a Big Trip for one of the characters, and a not-so-big trip for several others. And a HUGE SURPRISE for everybody. Oh, and the Berkeley brothers will be back, and so will the Wyoming book club. And that’s all I’m saying right now! πŸ˜€

          • I am soooooooooooooooo excited for the 6th book, it’s nice that the berkely brothers are going to be back i like all the drama

    • sorry to say but savvanah nor ashley joing in the fifth book i just read it!
i dint like how zach kisses becca he should have gone with cassidy
      i love cassidy

  4. I also think you should do a 7th book as the last one to hear all of their good-byes before college. I’m going to be a writer when I grow up. You and some other authors inspired me. (Even though my favorite character is Cassidy… like me!):-)

  5. I want to be a writer when I grow up too. Oh my gosh, you just reminded me they go to college!! Its gonna b a sad split. if they do split

  6. Hi your books are so good!! You are my favorite author:) Im so glad that you are making a 5th and 6th book. I was wondering wen they would be coming out??

    • Hi Delaney — the 5th book, “Home for the Holidays” will be coming out next September (2011), and the sixth one in September 2012. πŸ™‚

        • What book will the Mother Daughter Book Club be reading? I am a really huge fan of the MDCB!!!! I have read all the books and I am really excited for the fifth book!!!!! :)) And, I like how Darcy revealed his feelings for Jess(in a manner of speaking) in the 4th book.

          • Penelope, the club will be reading the Betsy-Tacy series by Maud Hart Lovelace in the fifth book. Great books, if you haven’t read them! πŸ™‚

          • thats such a cute title! it fits the rest of them perfectly…but it sounds like somthing sads going to happen in the last book. i hope not though!

  7. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am sooooooooooooo excited for the fifth book!!!!!what will it be called?????? who will be on the cover of the 6th book? my friend told me you werent making anymore of the books! ohhh im soo excited

  8. I love your books with everything in me!! my name is megan so I like her! Im kinda bummed…#5 doesnt come out till septemeber!! Im starting pies and prejudice now. I dont think becca should get her own piont of view…it would be cool though!
what if you skip ahead years later when chole is older and she has a book club?

    • Why don’t you think Becca should have her own point of view? She’s in the club like everyone else, and all the other girls have already been on the cover. She was in the book club since the 2nd book, yet she is just now getting her share of the 5th book. I think Becca deserves to be on the cover and get to talk from her point of view. She may be snarky, but she is trying to be nicer!

    • Hint: It takes place over the holidays (Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year’s Eve). It’s called “Home for the Holidays” but that’s kind of a little joke because NOBODY is going to be home — there are lots of trips involved for the book club…

        • Not much shorter, Penelope. Since Becca has her own chapters this time, and there are three “holiday” sections (Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve), that makes a total of 15 chapters instead of the usual 16. So you’ll get an almost-full-dose, OK?

  9. You should make a fan club it would be so fun. Plus I’d like to know if there are any reading test for these books because my daughter read one and wanted to go take a test but there wearnt any. Reply

    • Valarie, I’m not sure whether there are reading tests for my books. I don’t have a hand in making them, if the exist. Perhaps ask a teacher or librarian??? Sorry I can’t be more helpful…

      • I love your books. I just finished ‘Pies and Prejudice.’ It really made me want to read the classical version!
i can’t believe I am actually talking to my fav author!
i LOVE jess and cassidy but . . sorry i don;t like mehgan too much.

    • Hi Valerie! At my school, we have this website where we go and take AR tests on the book we are reading. They have the whole MDBC series and plenty more. Just go to scroll down to library and find take an accelerated reading test. I love that website!

  10. What inspired you to do this? What is your favorite book, you can pick 2? I like an idea of all the cast for the last 7th book and the idea of all saying thier goodbyes? Do you have any other really popular series? I don’t know about Savannah and Becca ,they aren’t the core group. Are you planning to end it at the 7th book? Sorry for the questions, thanks for your time.

    • Gina, I don’t really have a favorite book. I loved writing all of them! As of this writing, there will just be six books. But that may change…

        • i think the next book (#6)..she should put all the girls
together or maybe by couples (like Jess and Darcy, Emma and Stewart and Megan and Simon and Cassidy and Zach and then Becca and Third)u know

  11. when is the next mother daughter book club coming out. I LOVE them. And i love your writing where do you get your inspiration?

    • I get a lot of my inspiration from my own life, Hailee — remembering back to what it was like to be in middle school, or early high school. Things don’t change all that much, surprisingly! πŸ™‚

      • i cant wait for the next one. me and my mom are reading them and we love them and are talking about them all the time. i love all the little twists here and there. i used to love to write now i just love reading. i dont usually read books but your the reason i want to.

  12. Oh my god!!!!!!!! my friend and I loooooooooooove the mother daughter book club series!!!!!!!!!!! Is their a fundraiser in every book? seems like it!!! also do you know what the sixth book is gonna be called? You should write these series until all the girls in book club become older!! I t would be sooo cool if they made a book club for their children!!

  13. Hi! I don’t know if you’ll be writing about them anymore, but I really want to know more about what happens with Cassidy and Megan and Tristan and Simon. I can’t wait for the fifth book to come out, but that’s a long wait! The fourth one was my favorite! (So far, at least.):)

  14. The fourth one was probably definetely the best so far. I think they get better and better. And I think my favorite character is Cassidy and i totally love the romance involved.

  15. I love, love, love the forth book i read it over and over again i really like emma cause she’s like me but i have a question.
In all your books you said that Emma has curly hair but that doesn’t show on the forth book cover, is this a mistake or am I thinking of something else?

Love your books really excited for the next two hope you make more!!

    • Emma DOES have curly hair, and should have on the cover of the fourth one, but she decided to “glam up” for the cover shoot, so she straightened it. πŸ™‚

      • yea before i knew who was on each cover i guessed and i got it right!! the only one i was confused on was emma on the fourth books cover. i kept thinkimg it was someone else but who else would it have been?

      • Hi!!!! I LOVE the Mother-Daughter Book Club books!!!!!!
They are my favorite! I hope you make a movie, although I wouldn’t want to see the characters in the movie because what if they don’t look like how I’ve been imagining them for the past few years??? Anyway, I’m REALLY excited for the sixth book! Please don’t stop after only six!

        • The actual girls? I’m not sure — they were hired by my publisher for the photo shoots. If you mean who are they supposed to be, MDBC is Jess, MUCH ADO is Cassidy, PEN PAL is Megan, PIES is Emma, HOLIDAYS is Becca, and WISH YOU WERE EYRE is Megan again. πŸ™‚

  16. Which character reminds you more of yourself when you were the age of the MDBC and if you could be more like one character who would it be?

I think I am more like Emma because I love to read and I love to read…almost everyone says that I read WAY too much…but it’s really fun to read. And I could be more like one character it would be Jess because of how nice she is(most of the time).

    • Penelope, when I was your age I was a mixture of Emma (obvious reasons) and Jess, because I used to be super shy and because I love animals! Now, as a mom, I just hope I’m more like Mrs. Hawthorne than Mrs. Chadwick LOL! πŸ™‚

  17. Hey, how are you? I have a few questions. For the sixth book what are they going to read? I think they should read Mr. Hawthorns book. One of them maybe Jess should start dating which tears at her and Emmas friendship. What will the main plot be? I also would agree to the seventh book because they say good bye and then u should skip years ahead and have there daughters be reading little women and all there stories will continue with them, that will be a great ending don’t you think? What inspired stanleys character to you? Thanks sorry so long bye!

    • Hi Gina! Ooo, lots of questions for me. Let’s see if I can answer them all. I’m not sure what they’re going to read in the 6th book. Possibly “Jane Eyre.” I don’t know what the main plot will be, because I haven’t written it yet! πŸ™‚ What inspired Stanley’s character? I’m not sure — he just kind of popped onto the page one day. Hope this helps…

      • Hi! I love your books and I can’t wait for the 5th & 6th ones!!! Jess is my favorite character and I was wondering if her and Darcy were going to stay together? Thanks sooooooo much!!!!!! please reply

  18. I JUST LOVE YOUR BOOKS Heather & you are my FAV author!
Jess in P&P and I have loads in common & I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jess and Darcy’s relationship!!!!!!!!!

  19. I love reading the MDBC books! I can’t wait until the 5th one comes out!! I’m really excited and I love reading books…I’m a big fan of you, Heather, keep on writng! πŸ™‚

  20. I love your books. My mom and I read them together.the fourth book is the best. I hope number 5 and 6 will be even better! Even though my name is Becca i,m most like Emma!

  21. Hey Heather!! I just want to say i am a big fan! I am so excited that you are making a 5th book! I love the idea of putting Becca in there. In the 2 book i wondered if you were going to do that! I have a quick question, will you be hitting on the relationships with boy/girl? I mean with Jess and Darcy, Cassidy and Tristan e.c.t… I also want you to know how happy i am that you’ll be writting more to the MDBC! Thanks a lot!

  22. Love your books. I am addicted.! I read every chance I can.Are your kids the names of the girls in the book? Thank

    • Ha ha — Mandy, I have two BOYS. They would not be happy with me if I’d called them Emma, Jess, Cassidy or Megan. πŸ˜€ Their names are Ian and Ben!

  23. Heather! OMG I can’t believe I’m actually talking to you and calling by your first name I love the idea of adding Becca into the fifth book. Your books are my absolute favorite books in the world please write a seventh. In the sixth book maybe you could have some couples breaking up like Emma and Stewart.

  24. hi!
i LOVE the mother daughter book club books SOOOOOO much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
its so funny cuz i can relate so well, that when i read i match up book characters from MDBC to my life (twice i have called kids at school jess and cassidy by mistake), and i relate to emma SO much, because i luv skating and reading. i think after the 6th book you should skip ahead and write about a book club with Chloe, and Maggie, and their friends! i am also glad that Becca will have her own chapters, cuz i seriously want to know what her mind is like, and if she realizes/feels bad when she is being mean. i also think savannah should be in this one!

PS, something funny is even BEFORE i read the books, my favorite names have been Jess, Cassie (kinda sounds like Cassidy), Emma, and Megan!!!!!!

  25. Hi,
I loooooove your books sooooo much! My favourite charecters are Jess and Cassidy. I love jess’ farm and find i am alot like her ( i love animals and have been discribed as mute until i know someone). I love Cassidy’s spit & viniger attitude…alot like me on the basketball court, and her passion for hockey.I find I am the mostly a mixture of Jess ( i love animals), Cassidy (i am a sports nut) and Emma (I love to read)! I may be going to Concord soon, why did you decide to write about Concord? Can’t wait for home for the holidays!!!!

    • Why Concord? Because I lived there from 4th through 10th grade, roughly the same time period as my fictional book club. πŸ™‚

  26. Hi!I am in love with your books! I just began reading them, and I am so attached ALREADY! To show how attached I am, I’m doing a project on the first book of, “The Mother Daughter Book Club” in my class. Cant wait to read the rest of your books!

      • Hi heather!! I LUVe your books! My mom (who’s name is heather lol) and I read your books 24/7. For the sixth book you should just focus on when the girls are in college and the rest of their lives. To make it more almost grown up, one of the girls should like, get into an accident or something. Also, savannah should be included
        Please reply

        • I’m so glad you love my books! Say hi to the “other Heather” for me (your mom LOL!). Thanks for your ideas. We’ll have to see what happens — I’m still writing so even I don’t know for sure! πŸ™‚

  27. When i read what books they are all reading in the book club and when they talk about it too it makes me want to read those books too!! i think i will as so as i finish all these books!!

    • Me too Tracy I really want to read the books that they are all reading because they sound so good!

  28. Hi Heather,
I absolutely love love love your books! I can’t believe I’m talking to you!!! I’m also an aspiring writer, and I want to be just like you when I grow up. I think I’m most like Emma and Jess. Thanks for everything. What are some writing tips?

  29. Hi Heather!!!!!! These are the BEST books EVER!!! I keep reading them over and over again and I never get bored. Can’t wait for the 5th (do you know the exact date of when it comes out) and 6th one though I’m still deciding whether I like having Becca’s point of view or not. Also, I love how each of the girls have different personalities so I can relate to ALL of them. I especially love all of the romance and friendship and how all of the problems get solved. You are my FAVORITE author!! Keep writing well!!

Oh!! Almost forgot, in the 3rd book when Sundance has her baby goat Jess says she names it Sunbeam but it the 4th one it says her name was Cedar. I wasn’t sure if that was supposed to happen……….

    • Hmmm. Thanks for this, Kathy — I will go back and check. One of the goats had twins, perhaps that was the confusion… πŸ™‚

  30. Hi Heather,
Im a really huge fan of your book !!!!!! Well the Mother Daughter Book Club Books! I was wondering have you written any other seris or book!!!! I really enjoy reading your books! Please reply as soon as you can ! Thanks

    • Hi Nastassja — YES I’ve written other books! If you like the MDBC books, you might try THE VOYAGE OF PATIENCE GOODSPEED and its sequel, THE EDUCATION OF PATIENCE GOODSPEED. Very different (set in 1835 for one thing), but the main character will remind you of a cross between Cassidy and Jess…

And I also wrote the SPY MICE series, good old fantasy fun!

  31. Omg I love your books and I’m so excited for more to come out! I can’t wait for home for the holidays to come out. I read the first chapter online and now I just want to read more! Can you tell me a little description on what happens with all the characters cause I’m a little confused! Hope you’ll write more books. Thanks! πŸ™‚

  32. Hi Heather,
Do you know yet what the sixth book will be called or any idea what it will be about?

    • I don’t yet, Nastassja. Sorry. πŸ™ I’ll be busy cooking it up this summer, though…

      • Hi Heather!!!!!!! I really really love your books and
I am so happy you are continuing!! I have one
Question but it’s okay if you want to keep it
A surprise then I totally understand!!!! In the fifth book, does Cassidy stay with Tristan even though he is in England?

  33. hey heather i was just wondering if Jess and Darcy were going to stay together, and if Cassidy was going to start dating Zach.

  34. Okay I just saw the cover for your fifth book and it I so cool!!!!
I cannot wait till it comes out!! Do you know the exact date by chance?

  35. Hi Heather im wondering will there be any more books after the 6th one?Possibly maybe could somthing so exhilerating and crazy happen in the 7th one?

      • why six? could you please, just please wrote another book after book #6???
i will love to read more of the mother-daughter book club series…..
u should like continue them of to college and then ended with them being come back home together…!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so please please wrote book 7!!!!!!!! i begging u!!!! please

  36. Hi Heather!
I really love your books and hope to continue making more, even if they aren’t in the MDBC series! It’s so cool because I grew up with these books and the characters. Each year you would publish another book of the series, so I’d always be the same age as the girls! I’ve been reading them since Grade 6 πŸ™‚
I adore how you have a different perseptive for each chapter.. It must be awesome for you, since you get to show different sides of yourself through your characters and writing!
And I love how the girls went to England in Pies & Prejudice because I went there in Fall 2010. And you happened to mention several different places in the book that I visited as well! So, it’s like I got to revisit it all over again so thank you.
And I really loved how the girls read Anne of Green Gables in your second story because I live in Nova Scotia which is like a nextdoor neighbor to Prince Edward Island! I’m glad you made Canada as a little part of your series πŸ™‚
You’re truly inspiring so please don’t ever stop writing and doing the things you love. You make young girls all over the continent (and most likely England as well!) laugh and probably cry a little too. You mean the world to us so thank you, Heather πŸ™‚

    • My mother was born and raised in Truro, Nova Scotia! I used to go there all the time when I was growing up to visit my Nana. LOVE Nova Scotia! πŸ™‚

  37. you should DEFIANTLY make a movie! It would be the best one ever! PLEASE write back and PLEASE answer my question. I LOVE the mother daughter book club book and I LOVE how Emma and Stewart made up in Pies and Prejudice!!!!!!!!!!! πŸ˜€

  38. wow i have been reading your books over and over again and i just love them!!!! so i was just wondering if you plan on having Emma and her family stay in England for another year???

      • oh my gosh these books are amazing I’m on home for the holidays and omg it’s perfect!i love Jess and Darcy!please make a 7th book

  39. Hi heather i just love all your books when i finshed reading the fourth book i was so sad because i was just thinking this cant be the end of the MDBC jess and darcy just started dating and tristan and cassidy and megan and simon i was like no way oh and i was wondering in the fourth book does tristan and simon move back permantly back to england that would be so sad because of tristan and cassidy and simon and megan i hope they dont move back permantaly πŸ™‚

  40. Just wondering–how do the girl’s on the covers balance those books on their head’s? Or are books just added in after?

    • I *think* the books are added in afterwards, Lisa, via photoshop. Not entirely sure how my publisher’s art department works their magic, but they definitely do!

        • Try googling “baby names.” There are TONS of them out there! Also, look at your school’s student directory, if you have one. I sometimes poach names from there. Used to get them from the phone book, but those have gone the way of dinosaurs…

          • how did u get the name for u mother-daugther book club girl??

and are the girls in each of the book cover are real people or person?
            (please reply back) thanks!:)

and p.s u are amazing writer

          • I get names from lots of places — baby name books, friends’ children, students in schools I visit, names I overhear. I actually have a notebook filled with names I like (Clementine was one I’ve been wanting to use for a long time, and finally was able to!). As for the girls on the covers, they are real people — models that my publisher hires to pose for photo shoots. Cool, huh? πŸ™‚

  41. I love your mother daughter book club books! I’ve read all of them at least 2 times! I’m so happy you’re coming out with 2 more!

  42. I think it would be great if the Mother-Daughter Book Club had books about when they grew and started a book club with their kids.Jess and Darcy,Emma and Stewart,Cassidy and Tristan and Megan and Simon. And Becca with…Zach??Third?Somebody..

  43. heather i just love your book I think it would be awesome if you didn’t go staight to chloe it would be nice if the girls put web video to talk and have the mother daughter bookblub what do you think? Big fan πŸ™‚

  44. Hi, I am Lilly and i am a HUGE fan of the mother-daughter book club. Actually, for Christmas, my neighbor gave me the first book as a present, and I started reading it.To me, it’s really addicting to read, like the Harry Potter series. I have bought the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th book too. And I just was wondering how many books do you think you will write?

    • Hi Lily! I’m a HUGE fan of my readers! πŸ™‚ At this point, there are going to be six books. So, one more after HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS.

  45. Are you writing another book after “Home for the Holidays”? I absolutely love your books and I would have to read them another hundred times each at least if you stopped writing them! πŸ™‚ Thank you so much for your wonderful books and characters!

    • Yes, there will definitely be one more. The sixth one sees the girls through the end of their sophomore year in high school. Working title: “From Paris with Love.” (That may change…)

      • Great title for the sixth book! The only problem is that it doesn’t quite have the “ring” that “Home for the Holidays” and the rest of your books have! I love it, though!

          • Will there be a seventh? I can’t wait to hear more from Jess and Darcy, I just absolutely love MDBC books!!!! Your a great author! Please please please have a seventh book! Im a fast reader especially with ur books! R u going to create movies too? I really need (and yes I do need) to see who everybody will look like. Please ( I’m on my knees!) think about everything I just said!;)

          • I don’t think so, at this point. πŸ™ As for the possibility of my books being turned into movies,Β alas, that isn’t something I can control. The way it works is that someone Β in Hollywood — an actor, director, producer, etc. — has to discover a book and think, “Wow, this would make a great movie!” Β Then they take it from there. Β Let’s keep our fingers crossed, though, OK? Β I think it’s a wonderful idea.

  46. Hi! I LOVE your books. They are amazing. I don’t want the series to ever end!! I am counting down the days until Home for the Holidays comes out. Can’t wait!

  47. Hey Mrs. Fredrick!
It’s Lauren – the one from China, who now lives in Singapore, who is a HUGE fan!
I love the idea of giving Becca her own chapters! Any news about there being a movie for the books? If there is, I hope they stick to the plot.
They have your books in my library in Singapore! It makes me smile every time I see them. And From Paris with Love…cool! I really hope Megan follows her dream. I love the idea of all the book club on the front cover of the 6th.
My favorite part of your books is probably how unique they are, with characters that I know inside-out and a parts that make me laugh out loud. πŸ™‚
    Thanks so much!

    • Hi Lauren in Singapore! #Waving madly from Portland, Oregon# So glad that my books make you laugh out loud. ;D

  48. Hey Heather! I love MDBC! I can’t wait for “Home for the Holidays” to come out! So are there gonna be 6 books in the series, right? How long did it take you to write the first MDBC?

      • You are in inspiration! I love reading and writing (I am most like Emma) and I cannot wait for the rest of the series to come out!

  49. No joke this is my real name. I am like a combo of Emma and Megan and I think there should be 7 books so we could see them go off to college or at least a good epilogue in the sixth.

one question: is it Rebecca Chadwick on the cover of home for the holidays?

  51. sorry forgot on part from my comment:

are there any new people in the club?

    ps:L.O.V.E Megan and Cassidy !!!!

    Wrote in Canada

  52. Hi!! The Mother Daughter Book club books are really really good!! I really like them…Your writing is fantastic!! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Is there a place where you can subscribe to newsletters or something? I can’t wait until Home for the holidays is out!!

  53. I totally β™₯ your books and can’t wait for October 4th!!!! :DD Do you think maybe you could give us a hint a day about the book or something like that?
With Lots Of Love From Stupid KS,

  54. i really love your books! my favorite character is Jess. Are darcy and jess going to kiss?can u plz make them? thanks you are my favorite author. luv ya

  55. hello mrs.frederick,
i love your books so much i can not wait for the 5th book
i am going to pre order it. oh my lanta i am excited!!!!!! god bless your work i hope it is prosperous
will you please make a seventh i am asking this from the bottom of my heart.
    god bless

  56. I knew the girls on the covers were Jess, Cassidy, Emma, and Megan… I got them right too! You should definitely have a group shot on the 6th book. Maybe they could each a previous book on their head, like Jess have the first book and then have cassidy next to her and have the second book… etc.

I LOVE your books! I have read the series about 4 times now. It never gets old! I really hope you do not stop at 6. I think you should do 7 and have them finish high school and go off to college.

  57. Wait everybody plus Becca… means more chapters and more reading for me!!! Yay, I am soo excited, I will probably beat my record and read this in one day!!

  58. Hello again! Is the book gonna come out on the same date in Canada as well? Or is there a different date for Canada?

    • I’ve been told it’s coming out the same date in Canada, Lilian — but you might double-check and call your bookstore first… πŸ™‚

  59. wait heather does’nt the book come out earler beacause i odered the book from my liberary and its right next me right now how is that possible

  60. Hey Heather! I CANNOT wait to read “Home for the Holidays”!!!!! Its been on my “To Read” list since I read (and reread, and reread, and reread, and-wait, you probably get the point) “Pies & Prejudice”. How many pages is it?

  61. Hi Heather! I love your books and can’t wait for home for the holidays. Do you think there will ever be a movie for the series? I would love to play Megan!

  62. Just put your wonderful book on hold… and im waiting for the 2 people ahead of me to cancel their holds :p

  63. Oh my gosh I just love your books… ! I am a total bookworm and I totally remember when I was alot younger and I used to see your books in the stores and my mom read the back and was like isint this a little to old for you and i begged for it and she finally caved Im so glad she did because The Mother Daughter Book Club is like one of my favorite series I cannot wait until tomorrow to get Home for The Holidays !!!!!!!

  64. Hi Heather! I love love LOVE ur books! Huge fan! Anyways I went 2 go purchase Home 4 the holidays 2day and it wasn’t in the book store! What is up with that? Was there a late delivery? I was so excited 2 get it!! :'(

    • Rats! What IS up with that? They should have had it. Most stores do — call your bookstore and tell them to order it for you. It should only take a day or two to arrive, OK?

  65. Oh, my gosh!
I can’t tell you how much I love, love, love your books! I got the first one when I was in 6th grade, just like the girls at the beginning of the first book. But that was just a year ago, but I have all the first four books. I cannot wait for Home for the Holidays! Well, it actually came out already, but when is the softcover coming out, because for Pies and Prejudice, I had to wait a while for the softcover to come out. I love all the books the book club read but the Betsy-Tacy books seem maybe a little immature to me…I don’t know. But what book/books are they going to be reading in the sixth book? I’m so excited to read that one next year.
I am kind of a mixture of Emma/Megan, mostly. I love writing and reading, and my hope is to become a professional writer someday. But I also love cooking and baking, which Emma does, too. But I love anything fashion related, like Megan, but I don’t think I’m anywhere close to having a fashion show or my own designer line, because I’m more about dreaming the clothes up and piecing together different things than actually sewing them.
I really wish Tristan could have somehow stayed in Concord, because he and Cassidy seemed like the perfect match (Just like Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy!).
What is really fun is that all the books that the book club read, I have already read and it’s fun to read them over again.
Does Becca end up getting a boyfriend?
Who will be on the cover of the sixth book? ( I know someone posted that before, but that was a while ago so maybe you have a better idea now.)
What will the sixth book be about?
Does Cassidy end up having a boyfriend?
I have SO many questions but you probably don’t have enough time to answer all of them so I’ll just leave it at that.
Thanks for writing my favorite series of books!
I usually just read older classics, because a lot of the books today have a lot of neggative content. I’m so glad you don’t do that in your books.

    • Emily, I love your enthusiasm! A few *quick* answers: They’ll be reading JANE EYRE in the sixth book. Don’t give up on Betsy-Tacy – try the high school books, or one of my all-time favorites, BETSY AND THE GREAT WORLD. (And don’t miss BETSY’S WEDDING.) Tristan and Simon will be back, never fear. Ditto Stinkerbelle and Rupert Loomis…

  66. Hi Heather!!!!!!!! I just love your books. The first time I took NO.1 from the library it would be a little boring(NO OFFENSE) But then I couldn’t put the book down. I loved it! I am a little like Megan and I am so happy that there would be two more books coming in. I love your books………. Thanks Heather.

  67. I just love your books! I just finished the 5th and am thrilled to read that there will be another! Are you going to include an epilogue? I would love to find out who marries who and all of that jazz. I love Jess and Darcy! Thank you so much for writing such amazing books!

  68. Ughh! My mom pre-ordered the book for me on Amazon and they shipped early on the 4th. It is taking forever for it to come… I have busied myself while waiting for it by reading the previous books. They are so good that even though I have read them like 4 times before, I am still anticipating the ending! I CAN’T WAIT!!

  69. Yea!!! I’m so glad that you’re doing a sixth book i was really worried you wouldn’t. How did you decide to write a book about a Mother Daughter Book Club?

    • It was actually my editor’s idea, Hannah – she remembered I lived in Concord, Massachusetts when I was in middle school, the town where Louisa May Alcott lived when she wrote “Little Women.” She gave me a nudge, and I was off and running! So much fun to dream up the characters and situations to put them in. I love being a writer!

  70. Will Cassidy ever get a boyfriend? I can’t wait for Simon and Tristan to come back… I am all over the place waiting for the books to come out…. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR WRITING THESE. I just wish I had discovered these sooner then I did!!! And please don’t let Darcy and Jess ever break up, EVER!!! I have waited so long for Darcy to express his feelings for her!! Are you considering if you will continue the series further than 6 books? Do you think anybody will ever make a movie out these books?

    • Right now there are just the six books in the works, Janelle. And as for a movie, basically someone in Hollywood has to discover the books and decide they should be movies. Keep your fingers crossed! πŸ™‚

  71. Heather!! I just can’t believe ur books arent movies! I mean they are wonderful! I was wondering if u will include Zac Norton too or maybe Tristin and Simon in the book club too! Can u give me a hint if Tristin or Simon will be in the 6th book too?

    • I can do more than hint — Tristan and Simon BOTH will DEFINITELY be back in the 6th book! πŸ™‚

  72. These are the best books ever! My friend and I read them constantly, she introduced me, they are fantastic. When the fifth book came out we were reading it constantly. It would be compelling for the next book to take place in summer, at a sleepaway camp or something! I’m so excited for the next one in September 2012, I already sped through the 5th one. I love to write and your books are really inspiring. I am working on multiple main characters in my stories too.

    • Well, Janelle, the challenge for me as a writer is finding JUST the right books for my fictional book club to read — books that are appropriate for all of MY fans to read, too. I have girls as young as third and fourth grade reading the novels, as well as those in high school and even college (adult fans, too!). So I’m very conscious as I write of this wide range, and the need for keeping my books thematically appropriate for everyone. So, six it is for now. Beyond that, we’ll have to wait and see. πŸ™‚

  73. So,heather could u give me a hint if Cassidy will have boy troubles in the sixth book? Also will Jess finally go on a date with Darcy?thanks a lot ! I just love ur books!

    • Cassidy will ALWAYS have boy troubles! That’s just Cassidy! πŸ˜‰ As for your other question, you’ll just have to wait and see…

  74. The Mother Daughter Book Club is Ah-MaZiNg πŸ˜€ The 5th book just came in from being on hold… can’t wait to pick it up from the library… I would have picked it up today, but the library was already closed by the time I saw that it was in :p I know I’m gonna LoVe it πŸ˜€

  75. Hey heather! So I was wondering that you said jess’s eyes are blue right? Well on the cover on the first book, her eyes were brown so a little confusion here.

  76. Hello! I just want to say that your books are to die for! They are the best books i have ever read. I think that there should also be books for their junior and senior years. That would be amazing. I think that there should possible be a bit more romance. Also, I laughed hystarically in parts of the book. I <3 it. Jess and Darcy are amazing together! I never want them to break up and Zac and Cassidy should totally get together. Love the name for the 6th one!! Thanks sooooo much for being an amazing author!

  77. I finally got #5 on Wed.. I really wanted to save some of it for my road trip this weekend. I had such a hard time not reading it all… it was sooo good. Even though it had a fulfilling ending like the others it seemed like it had more cliff hangers since it was only half of a year.
I also really enjoyed Becca’s perspective. Have you decided if you are going to have anybody else have their own chapter besides the Becca, Megan, Emma, Cassidy, and Jess?

Also, I really appreciate you commenting and replying to our questions! Thank you very much for writing the best books ever! (Besides the Bible)

    • Hi Janelle — I don’t think I’ll be adding any other voices/chapters to the next book. It’s already quite a lot of perspectives to juggle! But we’ll see. πŸ™‚

  78. First of all I just want to say that I really love the MDBC books! What advice do you have for a budding writer?

    • Take yourself seriously, but not too seriously! It’s more important at this stage of the game to HAVE FUN writing than to worry about getting published. Set aside regular time for writing. Read a ton! Carry a notebook with you because story ideas show up at the oddest times, and you want to make sure to capture them when they do. Maybe find a writing buddy you can share your work (and your enthusiasm) with? Be patient and persistent. Off you go!

  79. I love this series and I have read all books in 2 weeks! Do you know what book level (A.R) Home For The Holidays is? I have to know because I want to do it for my book report. Thank you!

  80. hi heather,
I just love your mdbc books.Unfortunatley my local library doesn’t have the fifth book. Also, i love jess and darcy together. I read the first chapter online and cant wait to read the fifth one. Do you ever think you will make a stop in Hamilton or Toronto Ontario Canada!!! I have read all of the books and i think i am most like a combination of Emma and Jess since i love reading and animals. Can you give me a hint of what happens in the fifth book since I am waiting very patiently??? Pleaseeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!! I feel honoured to have read your books and thanks for writing! Hope you write more!!!!!!

    • I would love to visit Toronto, but so far a trip hasn’t materialized. Thank you for waiting patiently for the fifth book. i hope your library has it by now! Fingers crossed it gets there soon…

      • hii my library still doesnt have it ughhhh. I am so mad!!!! Is there anyway i can get from somewhere else?

        • Your library should be able to get it for you via “interlibrary loan” — talk to your local librarian about it. They’re usually really really good about helping fulfill patron’s wishes! Let us now when you’re successful, OK? πŸ™‚

  81. I find myself thinking about Megan, Jess, Cassidy, Becca, and Emma alot lately…I keep thinking about what they would say about my surroundings and sounds. I can just imagine myself just watching them as they come alive from these books. I love them soo much! I can literally read the WHOLE series in LESS than a week. Agh! I can’t wait any longer for the next book!
Do Darcy and Jess stay together in the 6th book or do have a permanent or temporary break up like Emma and Stewart? Are you considering a seventh book or does it just depend on when you finish the 6th? The MDBC should go to fashion week in Paris with Megan and Gigi. Have you changed the title or is still “From Paris with Love”? Will Simon and Tristan purposely meet up with the MDBC or will they accidentally run into each other? Did you ever think the MDBC would so popular or have this many books in the series?

Sorry for the long message and all the questions. I understand you don’t know yet or want to keep some of the answers secret. πŸ™‚ Thank you!

    • Let’s see, which ones can I answer? The title isn’t firm yet, I’m still noodling with it. Simon and Tristan will come back on purpose, for an event I’m not ready to share yet. And no, I had no idea that The Mother-Daughter Book Club would be more than one book, or that readers would love the series! It’s been really fun for me to see it blossom and grow!

  82. I was thinking that u shud end the series at book 7 with Ashley on the cover then rewrite the entire series, same scenes and everything, just in the guys’ point of view! What do u think? Please reply to this as soon as u can thnx!

  83. That is such a goo idea… that would be so cool, then we could see how zach feels about Cassidy. Maybe instead of doing a whole series you write one chapter or book.

  84. Hi! So, I was wondering if the sixth book was going to be the rest of their sophomore year or if it was going to skip to their junior year. And also if it is going to be by seasons or holidays or something else. And while I’m writing this, let me just say I LOVE YOUR BOOKS! Haha. Thanks for your time. πŸ™‚

    • Hi Katie — The sixth book will finish off their sophomore year. It will probably be in three seasons — Winter, Spring and Summer. And thank you for loving my books! That makes me ridiculously happy! πŸ™‚

  85. hii can u please give me some sneak peeks about the fifth book since my library doesnt have it yet!!! please u can email me if u dont want to publish it on your website

    • Hi Michelle — one sneak peek, OK? The title is a bit of a joke, because NOBODY in the book is home for the holidays! They all go someplace else… πŸ™‚

      • thanks and i have one more question!! Will u be making a stop in Hamilton or Toronto Ontario any time soon???

        • sorry i have so many questions i want to ask you and i have a few more. In the series what is your favourite couple to write about, Darcy and Jess or Stewart and Emma? W did you start writing? And lastly what is your all time favourite book( other than the ones you have written)

          • Hmm. I don’t have a favorite couple — I truly enjoy writing about all my characters. I started writing when I was a wee little thing, and got serious about it the summer after I turned 12. I wrote a novel at camp that summer! (Because I was homesick, and writing it cheered me up.) It wasn’t any good and never got published, but it ignited a spark in me, a passion for writing, that has never left. I have two all-time favorite books: CHARLOTTE’S WEB and PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. πŸ™‚

    • I don’t really have a favorite character — when I was your age I was a mix of Emma (obvious reasons) and Jess (because I love animals, and because I used to be super shy). Now, I just hope I’m more like Mrs. Hawthorne than Mrs. Chadwick LOL! Cassidy is the most fun to write, because she’s so NOT like me — I’m not a jock, I don’t always have a witty comeback, and I’m not nearly as brave as she is. So, hope this helps. Oh, and no, I’m not Irish. American. My background is German, English & Scots.

  86. how many pages are in this book? and is it a seventh grade honors level book? are you just assuming? sorry for so many questions. i’m just eager to read it because i didn’t get it yet!

    • 83,971 words. I don’t know how many pages because I don’t have a copy with me (I’m in a hotel in Texas). I have no idea if it’s a 7th grade honors books — maybe? You’ll have to ask your librarian! (They know everything.) πŸ™‚

  87. i have another question. how come it says 12:30 when i wrote the comment? because rite now its actually 1:30. sorry this is so off topic!

  88. Can I have your seal of approval to use B.F.F.B. in a short story contest for American Girl? I will let you know if I win and let you read it if you like πŸ˜€

  89. I just want to say that I really LOVE your books, I can relate to all of the girls which is fun. What advice do you have for a budding writer on how to get started once you have an idea for what you want to write. Again I love your books, thanks for taking the time to answer everyone’s questions! πŸ™‚

    – H

    • Getting started is half the battle. Just dive in – don’t worry about whether it’s the opening scene or someplace further in the story. You can patchwork it all together later. I often start by writing little snippets that come to me — I tend to think in “scenes” like that. Hope this helps…

  90. I’m pretty sure I’ve commented before, but I’ve just
finished the 5th book…and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2012 seems like such a long time to wait… But maybe if your gonna end the series with the 6th book, maybe write a different series, but when Cassidy, Megan, Becca, Emma, and Jess are adults, and there children will be in a book club!

  91. hi there πŸ™‚ i went on amazon to read part of the 5th book and after it started getting really interesting, it wouldnt let me read anymore!! and now im dying for the 5th book to come out! now i was wondering when it was gonna come out???

P.S. im a big fan of the whole MDBC series. πŸ™‚

  92. I got “Home for the holidays” at the library and now I’m practically stuck to it. its such an amazing book. I’ve been immersed into it and i take it with me practically everywhere i go! i just realized how much me and Jess are alike! its so cool! id love it if i could actually meet them all in real life!i almost cried when Becca and Megan got in a fight! I was heartbroken about that sticky situation between Emma and Jess. Will there be a movie? If so, I am dying to watch it! As I was saying before about how Jess and I are alike,it’s so cool that it seems like we could be really great friends. I think I could be friends with everyone in this book because I think I can relate to them all.I think all the girls in The Mother-Daughter Book Club are unique. Cassidy is really funny and her sportiness and tomboyish attitude make her unique. Becca can be a little bit on the gossip girl side but she’s absolutely amazing. She’s a good spirit in cheer leading and sometimes she can be really nice. Megan, I just love the way way her mind works;ticking and toking. I absolutely love her passion for fashion. She’s really creative and that’s how we run across the street to Emma. Emma she’s got the greatest mind of our generation when it comes to writing and critical thinking. And Jess, I love her passion for music and her love for animals. I admire all The Mother Daughter Book club girls! MEGAN,BECCA,CASSIDY,JESS,EMMA, HAVE A GREAT LIFE! Take time to laugh. It is the music of soul! Life is too short. Live along life, laugh a long time, love your life as long as it lasts! The Mother Daughter Book Club Rules! Love you Mother Daughter Book Club, Srikeerti

    • sorry this is so long! I just admire u and your books and the mother daughter book club sooooooooooooo much! I’M A BIGGGGGGGGGG FANNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  93. hi there! this is srikeerti and i finished home for the holidays! i cant wait for the sixth book! please make the sixth book super long cause then it would be so awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!! and there would be much more to read!!!!! im going to miss Jess,Megan,Becca,Emma, and Cassidy after the sixth book. weep weep

  94. Hi Heather,

I just wanted to let you know that I finished Home for the Holidays and it was wonderful! I loved it so much…there were so many surprises and changes but it was still awesome! I was just wondering if there is a sixth book, would it be the last one? Sorry to bother you but I just love the girls in the books so much and I can’t bear to think about their stories ending! πŸ™ You are an amazing writer and a true inspiration!
    -Gianna πŸ™‚

    • Yes, Gianna, it looks like the sixth one will be the last. I know, I know! I’ll miss the girls too. But I have other stories to write — and perhaps you’ll come to love those just as much! πŸ™‚

  95. HI
i just have to say i’m a huge fan of your books and i’m really looking forowrd to the next two books this is my second time reading the series and i love them!!!
    keep writing!!!!!

  96. Hello again,me and lilian were wondering : do you know for sure when the next book is coming out ?

oh and i think Megan and Simon make a really cute couple!

  97. Hello again!!!! Once again i LOVE your books. So when do you predict that Home For the Holidays will be out in libraries???
this is the best series i’ve EVER read!!!!

    • Kayla, you should be able to find it in libraries now. If your library doesn’t have it, you can request it. They’ll either order it for the library, or get it for you via inter-library loan, OK? πŸ™‚

  98. I LOVE THE MOTHER DAUGHTER BOOK CLUB! I think I’m most like Cassidy and Jess since I LOVE animals and dating is gross. πŸ˜›

  99. What will the name of the sixth book be? When will it come out? Who is your favorite character? For the last book, I think you should have ALL the Mother Daughter Book Club characters on the front. I don’t want the series to end! I might cry at the end like I did when Harry Potter was over :(! That probably explains to you why I’m using Hermione as my name for this!

    • The sixth book will be WISH YOU WERE EYRE (the club is reading Jane Eyre). It will be out next September. I don’t really have a favorite character — I love writing them all. And I love the name Hermione!

  100. I LOVE your books. Jess is my favorite character…but sometimes she seems a little bit to perfect. I mean, she’s smart, pretty, a great singer, and an animal lover. It just seems like she’s supposed to be perfect. She’s still my favorite character, though-it would be a dream to live on Half Moon Farm!

  101. I love the way how readers can relate to your characters. At first I thought I was like Jess and Cassidy but now I think I’ve got a little bit of each character in me. Jess because I love animals and music, Emma, because I love to read, Cassidy because I’m not really girly and stick up for myself, Megan because even though I’m not that girly I like to design, and Becca, only because my mom is SUPER embarrassing! Which of your characters are YOU most like?

    • When I was your age I was a mixture of Emma (obvious reasons) and Jess (because I love animals and also because I used to be super shy). Now, as a mom, I just hope I’m more like Mrs. Hawthorne than Mrs. Chadwick LOL! πŸ™‚

    • IKR Harmione!isnt it cool? wish you wer eyre sounds kinda sad thouh like itll hav a cryable ending…even thouh im a jock like cassidy and play alotta sports!

  102. Your books are great. I’m curious to see if there’ll be a movie of the MDBC. I’m actually also afraid that if there is, it’ll be nothing like the book. You know, like making the characters look different or changing their personalities. I can’t decide if I think there should be a movie or not!!! :-0

  103. Are you going to make another MDBC series where Jess, Cassidy Megan, and Emma start a book club with THEIR kids? You should!

  104. Is Tristan and Simon going to be in the next book? How are they going to appear? Also, after the fifth book, is Cassidy and Zach going to date or not?

    • Tristan and Simon will definitely be back in the sixth book. As for Cassidy and Zach, well, you’ll just have to wait and see. πŸ™‚

      • ok so heather i was confused….i ALREDY read the 5th book…so r cassidy and zach dating?or r we gonna DEFINITELY find out in the last book..becuz if we r dont spoil. but i mean cassidy is so private even in her point of view about relationship..and even wen we get somewher u aalways seem to cut her short and switch P.O.V..
sry dont mean to sound rude or anything but im just SOO CURIOUS!haha

        • Cassidy’s confused too. She likes two guys, who wouldn’t be? Things will be ironed out in WISH YOU WERE EYRE, though — wait and see! πŸ™‚

          • If i were in her shoes…….i`d DEFINITELY have to put some thought into that:)IM SO EXCITED BECUZ I MUUSST FIND OUT WHICH ONE CASSIDY ENDS UP WITH/LIKES!!!!

          • I think both Cassidy and Zach and Cassidy and Tristan would both make a good couple.I cant imagine how Simon and Tristan would look though

  105. Please don’t have the 6th book be the last!!! I absolutely ADORE the MDBC! I think that the series should end on the 7th book. The girls could all go off to college. I am going to cry when the series is done. I actually counted down the days until your 5th book. And I read it in 1 day the day it came out. I hope you make a movie of the MDBC. I hope I don’t sound too pushy though. I also wondered if in the 6th or if there is a 7th, Courtney will get married.

    • I actually enjoy writing all of them — but Cassidy and believe it or not Mrs. Chadwick are especially fun to write.

  106. Just so you know, when I said the thing about courtney getting married, I meant when she is going to have the wedding.

  107. I LUV your books and can’t wait to read the 5th one!!!(My library is out of stock:-p)Just one ? What grade are the girls supposed to be in?? I knew what grade they were in until the 5th book aren’t they juniors now??

    • In the fifth book they’re sophomores — it takes place over the first half of the school year, so they’re still sophomores in the sixth book!

  108. Hey! I absolutely adore these books and they are my all time favorite. Personally I think the series should go through high school. Do you think Jess and Darcy are going to stay together through the books? Thanks fo your time!

  109. I love reading the MDBC books. They relate to my life and give me good information to shape it up. So, in the 6th book, will Courtney have her wedding?

  110. Hi Mrs. Frederick! Your books are my favorite series ever! I love how I can find a piece of myself in all the characters! I love to read and write like Emma, I’m pretty smart and like school like Jess, I love baseball and hockey like Cassidy, and like fashion and my grandma like Megan! In looks I’m probably like a combo of Becca and Emma because I have blondish brown hair and blue eyes and used to have purple glasses! My question is why did you decide to change the name of the sixth book? I like both ideas. Thanks so much!

    • I’m so glad you love my books, Sarah! To answer your question, we wanted the title to reflect the book they’re reading — Jane Eyre. “From Paris with Love” was cute, but a bit too generic.

  111. UGH! it’s still not in my library! thi is so depressing!:'( nyway i love the new title and i look forword SO MUCH to home for holidays cause i haven’t read it yet πŸ™

    • Well gee, Kayla, wonder what’s taking them so long? Stay tuned, because there are more holiday giveaways coming up next month. Maybe you’ll end up with a copy of your very own! πŸ™‚

  112. It’s late but I really want to say this! YOUR BOOKS ROCK!!!!! You inspired me to write a book too. It’s kind of like your MDBC books. You and Anthony Horowitz are my #1 favorite authors. Like Emma, I am a thriving writer. I would literally die if you read over my stories and give me a few pointers. I am a math and science maniac like Jess and LOVE animals. I do track and hockey like Cassidy. Love fashion and designing it and coming up with ideas for it from my grandma who loves French too like Megan. I want to know who your favorite couple is in the story. Emma and Stewart. Cassidy and Zachary. Cassidy and Tristan. Megan and Simon. Jess and Darcy. I can’t choose! How about you?

    • Thanks, Corlyn! I love your enthusiasm – it means the world. As for a favorite couple, I don’t really have one. Mr. and Mrs. Hawthorne, maybe? LOL! And I WISH that I had time to read your stories, but alas I don’t. Too busy writing stories for YOU to read at the moment! πŸ˜‰ I’ll cheer you on from afar, though!

  113. If the books are going to go through high school and the sixth one is still softmore year won’t there be eight books? That would be FABULOUS!!!! I can’t wait to see what is going to happen! Can’t wait till the next books come out!!

  114. Darn! Oh well, the books will be great no doubt about it! So far my favorites are probably Pies and Prejudice and Home for the Holidays!Though I like them all!!Which one would you say is your favorite?

    • I don’t really have a favorite, Nina — maybe P&P a TEENY bit because I lived in England when I was Emma’s age, and it was fun to tuck my memories into the story…

  115. Which of the MOMS is your favorite? To be honest with you, mine’s Mrs. Chadwick! Her personality makes me laugh, especially with her “brand-new me” thing in the third book! LOL! πŸ˜€

    • I don’t really have a favorite — although Mrs. Chadwick is a LOT of fun to write! She’s over the top, isn’t she?

  116. I really really loved pies and prejudice! Definitely my favorite book in the series(: I loved the berkeleys! Will they be in the future books? I really hope so! It was really exciting reading pies and prejudice because I’m going to be starting boarding school in England next year(:

    • Yes, Maya – the Berkeley brothers will return in WISH YOU WERE EYRE. Boarding school in England? Wow! What a fantastic experience you’re going to have! πŸ™‚

  117. Hello Mrs. Frederick! I wanted to tell you how much I love the Mother-Daughter Book Club Series! It’s amazing, and I feel so connected with the girls. I read the previous comments, and I see the 6th book will be the last. Please take into consideration in writing another one! I love it so much! Well
Happy Holidays! You are an amazing writer Mrs. Frederick!

  118. Hi Mrs. Frederick. Your books mean the world to me, they have comforted me when i went through some really tough times and I read them all with my mom even though I’m fifteen and hardly have any time to breathe. I heard the sixth book is going to be the last which makes me very sad. I’m sure you have your reasons for ending the series when you do but a 7th book would be appreciated by so many people. I love the characters. I love the writing. Happy Holidays!

    • Catherine, I love love LOVE it that you’ve read my books with your mother! My father and I read books together until I was in COLLEGE. πŸ™‚ And I remember well what it was like to be 15 and barely have time to breathe. So I’m doubly honored. Yes, the sixth is going to be the last, BUT I am not hanging up my pen — I’ll be writing other books, and perhaps you’ll come to enjoy some of them, too. Happy new year to you! πŸ™‚

  119. Hi Mrs. Frederick! I absolutely love your books! I read the first Mother Daughter book when I was in 6th grade and each year I have aged with the characters. Its been so fun to watch the girls grow and change! I’ve found that I have gone through very similar issues as the characters, especially Megan. I love how relatable all of the girls are! Is there any possibility at all that you will write books for the girls junior and senior years of high school?? O, and I love the title for the sixth book!!

    • So glad you like the title! It was my editor’s idea — I LOVE it! Just six books for now, though.

  120. I’m saddened at the thought of the series ending πŸ™ but you probably have other book ideas just bursting to get out… I know that’s how I am πŸ˜‰

  121. Omg I love your books! I can’t wait till the sixth one comes out. But is there anyway you could give me a little detail on what the sixth book is going to be about. Thanks.

  122. Hi, Mrs. Fredrick
Can you give us a little sneak peek for the 6th book? Please? You could choose a character and give us a sneak peek about them! Pleeeeeeeeeaaaaaaassssse? πŸ˜€

        • hey heather i jst recently found this site and i LOVE IT!!but yeah i 100% agree with baylie and lavender about the sneek peak…will u release one soon and give us a date to look 4ward to? and give us the info on wher to find it if u dont release it on your site first??PLEASE?

          • It will definitely appear here first. As for a date, I can’t give you one yet. My best guess is April? Manuscript has to get finished, edited, revised, edited again, revised again, and THEN the first sneak peek chapter will be ready for prime time. It’s a bit of a process! πŸ˜‰

          • Haha me too Bailey!! It seems like it would take just as much time to do that as write a book!

      • when you say “coming down the finish line”, do you the book or the series?
i really hope its the book, not the series- they are so amazing!

        • The book and the series, Abi — I know, I know, but even good things must come to an end eventually.

    • The book will be published in September, so the sneak preview will be up well before that. June, maybe? πŸ™‚

  123. I’m am such a big fan of all your books and was so excited to hear about the 6th one coming out!! πŸ˜€ I read all your books in, seriously, about a week! I also like to write, do you have any advice for budding writers? I can’t wait for the 6th one to come out! THe name for it is so clever. Can you tell us a little bit about it…please?

    • I have LOTS of advice for budding writers in the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page on my website, so check there Veronica, OK? As for the sixth book, I can tell you that they’ll be reading JANE EYRE, it finishes up their sophomore year, there will be some exotic and not-so-exotic trips, boy trouble, pranks, and the return of the Berkeley brothers! The first chapter will be posted in a few months (don’t have an exact date yet) as a sneak preview. Stay tuned…

  124. Kelly, you can probably ask them to order it and it will be there in a few days, or if they don’t have it you can request that they buy it. πŸ™‚

      • i think it should be all the girls— Becca included!
        that would be cool!
please reply and tell me waht you think about my idea!

what mom do you think you are most like in the mother daughter book club series?

        • That would be fun — but it’s up to the art department. We’ll see what magic they weave this time around. As for moms, just hope I’m more like Mrs. Hawthorne than Mrs. Chadwick LOL!

  125. i love your books!!!! i got the 3rd and 4th books in series and i am reading the second right now! (i am at the part where Jess is fixing Megan up after sitting under the table in the tent) anyways, i found out about the fifth book and i am dieing to get into my hands! (but of corse i wont read it ’til i finish the others! i just llllloooooovvvvvveeee your books!!! you should keep writting them up to a 20th book and they could be i collage and they can try to see each other and stuff!! the thing i like most about the books is that the girls are my age!
    keep the books coming!!!!
i <3 mother daugter book club!

  126. sorry about my bad grammer and such.. i was soo extited because i want to continue reading Much Ado About Anne!

    • Probably won’t be on the road again until next fall. You can keep an eye on where I’ll be on the “Appearances” page on my website, OK? And thank you!

  127. ok thank you for all your comments!
yesterday i fineshed Much Ado About Anne, and now i started Dear Pen Pal which i am already on page 156!
and then today i got a copy of Home For The Holidays. i have every book in the series except for the first one which i checked out in the library.
if i were one of the moms i would want to be mrs.hawthorne too, and not anything like mrs.chadwick… or mrs.wong…LOL

  128. Hi, Heather! First of all I just want to say how awesome it is that you do this. It is so cool to actually be able to ask you questions like this! I have one question: how were you able to think of the Mother Daughter Book Club? Thanks!

    • Rose, the ideas just come — I don’t know how or where, but they do. I guess that’s why I’m a writer! I’m sure for artists, it’s images that come, and for dancers, it’s moves that come. Each of us has our niche to fill. The spark for MDBC came from my editor, though–she had the idea for me to write a story about a mother-daughter book club, and suggested I set it in Concord and have them read Little Women. And then I took the idea and ran with it. πŸ™‚

  129. hey heather! i have talked to you before on this but i thought u would let you know that i have finished DEAR PEN PAL, and now on PIES AND PREDJUDICE. i just want to say thank you for being a great writer and writing the mother daughter book club. i don’t know what i would do with out the MDBC!

  130. Hi, Heather! Your books are so awesome–your an amazing writer! When will the sneak peek of the sixth be coming out? I can’t wait! I’m dying to know what will happen to the girls! I can’t believe that the sixth is the last–when I reread the first book I kept think “They changed so much!” I’ll miss them! I have one request that you do: Never. Stop. Writing! Your an amazing writer and thank you so much–before your books I was stuck reading Harry Potter for the 10 millionth time! Not that I don’t like Harry Potter…but i needed a break. I’ll admit: at first I was like “The mother daughter book club?” But now I LOVE LOVE LOVE your books! You rock!

    • Thank you, Charlotte! Sneak peek coming in a couple of months — maybe sooner. I have to finish the book first, then my editor needs to give it her eagle eye, then we’ll post. πŸ™‚

  131. I am so excited for the sixth book! I just finished Home for the Holidays and I am very sad! Heather- What is the date of Wish You Were Eyre coming out?
Thanks a lot for writing these!

  132. Hello Heather. I’m so in love with your books! I can’t wait for the sixth one! Will there be a seventh? And in the sixth will there be more romance? Jess and darcy are my favorite couple ever in all of the books I have read……:-)

  133. Since the sixth book is the last, I was wondering if you would have an epilogue at the end of the sixth book? You could write about a mother-daughter book club that Emma, Jess, Megan, Cassidy, and Becca have with THEIR kids, just to show fans like me what happens in the end.

    • Love the idea, Charlotte, but not sure if there will be an epilogue. They may just have to live on in your imagination…

  134. Aw. :'( I really wanted to know what would happen to them. Like what would their jobs be, or things like that. I can guess Emma and Megan’s jobs, but you never know…

  135. i love MDBC on pies and predjuidice. please don’t spoil anything.
heather, out of the books the MDBC read which one is your fave?

  136. Hi, Heather. Do you have any advice for a writer? I’m working on my novel: To be Friends or Not to be Friends. It’s about a group of girls who team up to save the school play. Any advice?

    • I do have advice for writers, Charlotte – you’ll want to hop over to the FAQ (frequently asked questions) page on my website, and see what nuggets of wisdom I have to share there, OK? Then, if you have more specific questions, why don’t you go ahead and email me. The main thing is just to be patient and persistent, and HAVE FUN writing the story! You don’t want it to become some dreaded chore at this point. πŸ™‚

  137. I loved your books!! I recently finished the fifth one and I am ecstatic to read the 6th. I am an avid reader and I have wanted to be a writer for as long as I can remember. I was running out of books to read, like Emma often does, and was so glad to find yours!!! However, I’m very upset that the 6th won’t come out till September! I’m looking forward to it. Also, I love the titles of the MDBC books, they are so clever. Any hints as to what Wish You Were Eyre will be about??

    • Thanks, Ally! I can tell you a couple of things about WISH YOU WERE EYRE — someone goes to Paris. Someone goes to Minnesota. There’s a prank. A new girl comes to town. The Berkeley brothers return! You’ll have to wait for the rest of it… πŸ™‚

  138. Hey,
I luv your books. in the last one I expecially like the relationship between Jess and Darcy. I think there should be more of them. After you finish the series you should do a college life book for each of the main charicters.
I started the series in late January and Im almost done with them. These books are great. I all of them sooooo much. I liked the 5th one the most though.

    • Home for the holidays is my absolute fav book.
You are such an awesome writer.
I take the books to dance class and read them between classes. Once I read into class time and my teacher got mad.;)

  139. I noticed something after rereading the series: the book club reads Daddy Long Legs, written by Jean Webster, and a character in your books is named Jen Webster. I just noticed that, and wondered if it was something you’d done on purpose. Love your books!
    Hermione πŸ™‚

    • Actually, Hermione, I created the “Jen Webster” character well before I wrote Dear Pen Pal, which brought in Daddy-Long-Legs. Maybe that was somewhere in the back of my mind, though, because I LOVE Jean Webster’s book! But no, I didn’t do it on purpose. πŸ™‚

  140. Yeah, I knew you created her before that, but I thought, “Did she make her like that because she loves Jean Webster? Or was it a coincidence?’ I’m one of those people who rereads a series they love a million times–actually, I’ve read your series 5 times–so I noticed this after reading it for the 3rd time.

  141. Will there be a Mother Daughter Book Club movie because I
    LOVE your books!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  142. Dear Heather,
I really enjoy reading MDBC series and I just finished rereading them (a third time…) I just want to thank you for giving these books to the world and introducing me to classics that I now can’t live without. I am going to be depressed when the series ends, but at least I can still reread them. I would like to tell you so much more but you have to read so many other comments. So once again, thanks Heather. (p.s. Thanks for actually reading my thoughts.)

“Never say ‘I can’t.’ ‘I can’t’ is a limit, and life is about breaking through limits. Say ‘I will’ instead.”
    Pies & Predjudice

  143. Hi! I really love your books & I have a great idea on a book to write but the problem is that I am not a very good writer so could you give me any advice on what 2 do? I am sooooo excited 4 the 6 th book I just luv your books ( especially the romance!!!)

    • Meg, NO ONE is a good writer when they’re just starting out, trust me. Just like beginning dancers, skaters, musicians, artists, etc. spend a lot of time practicing before they’re good, so writers must do the same. The point is to JUST DO IT (remember the old Nike ad?). Get started! Take out that notebook and write! And take it in small bites — a scene here, a scene there — instead of thinking “I have to write a WHOLE BOOK!” That’s what I do. Otherwise I’d probably panic and never get anything written at all… Have fun!

  144. I am a hugee fan of your series!! I just love them so much! I think the title: From Paris, with Love is really good! Can’t wait for it! Do you know how long it will take until it hits the book stores?
Also, I think that if you don’t plan to write a 7th book then you should write an epilogue in the 6th book about what colleges they go to, and what they do in the future. πŸ™‚

    • Actually, Taylor “From Paris with Love” turned into “Wish You Were Eyre.” Same book (coming next September), but different title in the end. As for the epilogue, we’ll have to see. I’ll tie up all the loose ends for sure, though!

  145. hi Heather! i wanted to say that i absolutly love the MDBC series! they are my favorite books! i cannot wait for the sixth one to come out! i really hope that there will be a movie! do you have any future plans with the series yet!?

    • Movie would be fun — but it’s not up to me. Let’s hope someone in Hollywood decides it would make a good film! πŸ™‚

  146. OMG I love your MDBC books! They are the best books ever! I haven’t read the 5th book yet, but I’m getting it soon! I know that there’s a 6th book coming out, but what about a 7th book? Can you keep writing until the girls go off to college? Pleaseeeeee
You are my favorite author, and I hope you keep writing!!!!!

  147. Dear Heather, I was wondering if you will make a movie out of these books they are realllyyyy good! I love them! If you will please include all the books. I have seen disappointing movies like that before. please reply!!!!

    • Hi Abby — yes, a movie would be fun, but it’s not something that’s up to me. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that someone in Hollywood reads it and decides it would make a good movie, OK?

  148. Heather,
I absolutley ADORE your books. I am an aspiring writer (in more than one way!). I am working on writing a book and I write a TV Show my friends and I do. I also started working on a script for the first Mother-Daughter Book Club Book. I still can’t belive I am talking to my favorite author. I have read your books over and over and I’m still surprised when something happens. Also, if you can, would you tell me what the sixth book is about? And when will it be published? Thanks again!!!

    • I’m so happy you love my books! #happyfeetdance# WISH YOU WERE EYRE will be published next September, the 10th or 11th I think. Sneak peek coming in a bit — but the cover should be revealed any day now!

  149. I just saw the cover for the last book! LOVE IT! Sad I couldn’t vote (don’t have facebook, my dad does but he’s away) but if I did it would be for Megan…and she ended up on the cover!

  150. Thanks for replying to my letter and I can’t wait for the sixth book. How many are there going to be? Will there be college books? I love your books so much, I read “Dear Pen Pal” in fourth grade and fell in love. Thank you so much for writing a series that is so amazing and you have a great voice in your writing.

    • There will be six books — WISH YOU WERE EYRE (coming in September) will be the last one. So glad you’re enjoying the series!

    • She was on the cover of MUCH ADO ABOUT ANNE — go take a close look, you can tell by the red hair! πŸ™‚

  151. HI i love your mother daughter book club books i was wondering if the sixth book will be the last and if the books will be a movie

    • The sixth book will be the last, Virginia, and as for a movie — hello, Hollywood? Anyone interested?

      • ahhh man i wish they could go on forever i love jess and darcy and cant wait to here about cassidy and zach!!!!!

  152. Hi Mrs. Fredrick I was wondering if you could tell me what the sixth book will be about? I absolutly love your books!

  153. I love your books! They’re one of my favorite series! My friend and I started a book club with our best friend who moved away two years ago and we read Pies and Prejudice. We all thought it was an amazing book and we all love your series! I am really excited to read your 6th book and I was wondering if there is going to be a 7th??

  154. is savanah going to be part of the book club and when is the sneak peek of the book coming out?

    • Not really, Kyra — but she will be a part of things in general. And the sneak peek is coming this summer. I don’t have an exact date yet.

  155. Hi, I was wondering if you are going to write a 6th book? I really hope you do. I LOVE the mother daughter book club. When i read the books i couldnt put them down! I own the whole series right now and CANT WAIT till the 6th book comes out!!
    Amber πŸ˜€

  156. Hi!!!! I love your books. I am really sad that there isn’t going to be a seventh book πŸ™ Can you put a seventh book into consideration? Thanks!!!

    Abby πŸ™‚

    • I will certainly think about it, Abby, but it’s unlikely at this point. I’ll be writing other books, though! πŸ™‚

      • I love the mother-daughter book club!
I think the seventh book would be a really good idea because the sixth kind of left me hanging! They should have them the year before they graduate and we can find out their future! Please please write a second book!

  157. First of all, I love the mother daughter book club! I can’t wait for the sixth book to come out! I think that you should make an epilogue in the sixth book with the original members of the mother daughter book club starting a new book club with their daughters.

  158. Hi Mrs. Frederick,

I was wondering if it would make sense to read the books in order cuz I read the first, then pies and prejudice…
AND….. I was wondering if u could show more detail with Darcy and Jess…. i luv the idea that they like each other !!!!! And also with Cassidy and Tristan. Fir the sixth book! Thx so much for everything! Hope u can reply πŸ™‚

  159. Hi Mrs. Frederick,
I am so in love with the mother daughter book club! When I heard that there was going to be a 6th book, I was so happy! I really hope that you continue to write the seiries (sorry, I do NOT know how to spell that. The whole i before e thing is so confusing!) I hope you continue to write these books. I love Cassidy, Jess, Megan, Emma, and Becca, because their lives relate so much to mine! When will the 6th book come out?

  160. Ms frederick can u plz plz plz plz plz plz plz tell me if cassidy will choose tristan over zach in the sixth book?!?! I absolutely love tristan and Im just dying of suspense here

    • Well don’t expire completely or you won’t be around to find out what happens… πŸ˜‰

  161. Hi!
The MDBC is one of my favourite series, so I’m so glad that there’s going to be just one more!
    Can’t wait to read it!

  162. Hi,
I LOVE your books!!! I am only on the fourth one but I saw the website on the back of the book and I thought it would be cool to check it out. I think it is so cool that you have a blog and you reply to all your fans!!! I picked this blog article to reply to because I agree with the title!! I have some questions for you:
    1. Which character are you most like?
    2. Which character did you have the most fun creating?

It would be awesome if you could reply, but I know you are really busy. After I finish MDBC I am going to read some of the books the book club read because I never read them and they look REALLY good!!!!!!!!!!!!!! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Thanks for everything!!!

    • Hi Bel — happy to answer your questions. When I was your age, I was a mixture of Emma (obvious reasons) and Jess (because I love animals and because I used to be super shy). As a mom, I aspire to be Mrs. Hawthorne and hope I’m not too much like the old-and-unimproved version of Mrs. Chadwick! She was actually one of the most fun characters to create, though, along with Cassidy and Gigi. πŸ™‚

  163. Hi,
I am a HUGE fan of MDBC. I’ve read every book (except the sixth) and I’ve already preordered the sixth on my kindle! I was wondering what book was your favorite? Also are any of the characters based on living people? Is the sixth book the last one? I hope you had a great summer! Sorry about all the questions!

    • Thanks, Carly! I don’t really have a favorite — I’ve enjoyed writing every single one of them. And some of the characters are a wee bit like real people I know, but not entirely. They’re more like patchwork quilts — a bit of this person, a bit of that, and a lot that’s just plain made up. And yes, the sixth book is the last one. Happy end-of-summer to you!

      • Hi Heather- just wanna know when the second sneak-peek of Wish You Were Eyre will come out? I thought you said it’ll come during the last week of August?

  164. Thanks so much for replying!!!!!!! It is so weird because the characters in your books are so similar to my friends and I!!!!!! I am know on the fifth!!!! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

  165. Hi! I was wondering if October 23 was still the opening date?? I just wanted to day that I LOVE THE MDBC SERIES!!! I thing Jess and Darcy are the best couple ever!!!!!

  166. HI HEATHER!! You are my all time favorite author in the whole wide world. Your stories are so realistic I can relate to them on every page. Please don’t end the series on only the 6th book. I want it to end on the 7th so it could show them graduating and there farewells! Please oh please…. <3

    • Thank you, Helina! I’m honored! Alas, this will be the final book, though. I have others up my sleeve, and who knows, perhaps you’ll like one of them as much as you like the MDBC!

  167. Hi! I LOVEEEE your stories!! I just checked ‘Pies and Prejudice’ from the library and finished it in two days! Can’t wait to read the last two! I love every book you wrote!! They’re amazing! Everytime I finish reading it, I get this sad momment and sit around, moping and anxious that it ended. (Imagine how I’ll be when I read the 6th book, knowing that’s the last book!) XD But my favorite character is Emma. Her and Stewart are cute together! I wonder if Jess and Darcy will kiss…wait…don’t tell me, I didnt finish reading yet! X) Anywho, I hope you continue publishing more books! <3

  168. Hi Mrs. Frederick,

I just wanted t say I love your books, especially Pies and Prejudice. Can you give me a little hint of a surprise you have hidden in the book? I am so excited for it to come out! Do Cassidy and Zack start to date? What happens with Darcy and Jess? Is there any more drama in the book? I would really appreciate it if you reply soon! Also, what is Stinkerbelles cousin like?

    • Dana — good news! WISH YOU WERE EYRE was published on October 23rd! You can read it for yourself and find the answers to all your questions… πŸ™‚ Have fun!

  169. JUST FINISHED WISH YOU WERE EYRE!!LOVED IT! I am definitely going to miss the girls. Maybe can you post an epilogue of the MDBC on your website? Please! I want to know what their future is going to be like!

    Abby πŸ™‚ <3

    • i agree, i am going to miss them too!!! i love these books sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much!!!!! i am right at part 3:summer, and so i am almost done. i wish that there would be another book! i hope there will be an epilogue!

  170. I looooooove the books so much!!!!!!! I was so happy with how everything ended. Would you say that Jess and Darcy stay together? I would hope so when ever they get talked about I fall in love with their characters! I like the way everything ended well too. It wouldn’t have been the same if someone didn’t end up with the love of their life. I got sort of annoyed with Stewart though what a dork!!! Oh well. You should post an epilogue online if you don’t make a book to continue the story! It could be a few paragraphs about what they do in the future. Thanks so much and I love your books and writing!

    • Duh! No one does.. it’s way to good. HOW DOES ______ and ______ turn out?!?!?!

lol i did ____ to take away the spoilers for the ppl who havent read the last book.

  171. I don’t want know about one couple, I want to know about all of them! You make short stories for the website, I don’t ever want to say goodbye. And I am practically don’t ever want there lives to end πŸ™‚

    • WISH YOU WERE EYRE is the last book, Ava. Sorry to disappoint you! But I will definitely be writing other books, so perhaps you’ll come to read and enjoy one of them as well. πŸ™‚

  172. Hi!!! Oh my gosh!!! I have literally searched EVERY site just for your e-mail address or any way to communicate with you. I am about the age as Emma turned in the first book (you figure out the math:)) and I really relate to your books. I am on the 5th book and I am so hooked I can’t even tell you!!! Please respond to me! I will do anything! I am so involved with your books Ive convinced my mom to read all your books AND start book club!!! I love writing and I think I relate to Emma a lot. But I still like to look good – Megan, I love sports – Cassidy, and I get good grades – Jess. Thank you sooooo much! Just writing to you is a pleasure!!!!!!!!

    • How fun that you found your way here, Yael! Welcome! I’m delighted that you love my books (that always puts a smile on an author’s face, let me tell you). It may interest you to know that when I was your age, I was a mix of Emma (obvious reasons) and Jess (because I love animals and because I used to be super shy).Β  Now, as a mom, I just hope I’m more like Mrs. Hawthorne than Mrs. Chadwick!!!

      • do u think maybe u could write a really short book for an epilogue of the girls lives??? that would be super awesome!

        • At this point I don’t have any plans to. I tried to tie up as many loose ends as I could, while at the same time leaving some things open-ended, because the magic of books is that they allow us as readers to use our imaginations to think about the characters’ futures. Go for it!

  173. Hi! I absolutely LOVE the MDBC books! I read the first one a few years after it came out, and now im hooked. I have the entire set and I re-read them all the time. Is there no possible way to make a 7th book? PLEEASE reply- im dying to hear if there will be a next book. Thanks for your time πŸ™‚

    • Ooo, wish I could say there would be a 7th, but six it is. OTHER books coming down the pike, though (Summer 2014), so maybe one of them will make you happy, too…
