  1. Yay! Getting it after school. Thought it came out on the second of october though. I went to the bookstore on the 2nd and they were like, it comes out on the fourth and i was like, so upset! Didn’t you say it came out on the 2nd, heather!?!?!?!?!

  2. I purchased this book at your book signing Friday evening at Mrs. Nelson’s Book and Toy shop…signed by you! I’m planning to give it to my granddaughter for Christmas but I think I might just read it first!

  3. Hey I live in North Carolina and I can’t find the book anywhere in the ookstores around where I live. Do you know why I can’t find it? Or where I can find it?

    • Hmmm. Again, any bookstore anywhere can order a book for a customer — just ask them. They’ll have it in a day or two. Otherwise, there are online bookstores like Powell’s and Amazon.

  4. I can’t wait to go use my barnes and noble gift card to get it!!!!! So excited!!!! YIPEE!!!

  11. i just started reading this on my Kindle! I love this series and recommend it to my students. As a Betsy Tacy fan, I am delighted you chose to feature these books. But truly, I love all the books you have had the mothers and daughters read in your books. I an also tickled to know that there is a section on Hanukah, because like Ilana, I too am Jewish. Thank you so much Heather for your wonderful books. I hope the series will go on and on!

    • wow, it must be really good. im excited to read it now!! i just got it yesterday and now im about to sit on the couch and start reading and little b it later i will be eating blackberry cobler. yum. a good book and good food.

  15. Haven’t got it yet because by birthday is on the 10th so my mom won’t give it to me until then:(. But I was on fanfiction the other day and heather you should read Mother Daughter Book Club: Chapter 2. It is so good and it is about the girls daughters and it sounds like you wrote it (kind of). But you should really read it. I am bot the writer but if the writer does read these I want to let you know that you are an amazing author and you should continue writing and update the story.

  16. Just got my copy of “Home for the Holidays!” I can’t wait to get into it, but I have to finish the last seven chapters of my other book so I can invest all my time into this one. And Heather you were right, the cover does look like gift wrap! πŸ™‚ It’s amazing! I’m giving you and the designers of the cover a big round of applause. πŸ˜€

  17. Just a suggestion but you shouldn’t end the book while they are juniors you should wait until they are seniors because then it would make more sense.

    • i totally agree mimi until they go to collage eben or at least give us an epilogue on how their lives turn out:) that would make a lot of sense and would make me happy to now how they turn out and who they marry. maybe you should right ten books just like in betsy-tacy books πŸ™‚

  18. My library doesn’t have it yet! πŸ™ Oh well I can wait. I do think you should finish up their senior year, but I’d be content with just an epilogue that talks about what they ended up doing, but you know what? It’s your series and your ideas, so whatever you want to do with it is fine by me, because I have SO LOVED your previous books!!

  19. I agree with Rose about the ten books! I LOVED Home for the Holidays!!!!!! It was sooooooo amazing! πŸ™‚

  20. I pre-ordered it last Saturday and it hasn’t come yet:( can’t wait to read it!!! How’s the next book coming along Ms. Frederick?

    • S-l-o-w-l-y, Natalie. But that’s because I’m doing a lot of traveling right now. Heading to Texas next! πŸ™‚

      • Sorry Ms Frederick. I called Barns and Noble and they said the publishing company is delaying the release date in Colorado (where I live) I am SOOOOOO mad. I was planing on reading it the second it came out.>:( Are you coming to Colorado Heather?

  21. I’m getting it tomorrow!!!! Eeeeh! So excited!! My mom finally agreed cuz I’m letting her take me food shopping afterwards, that part seems horrible!

  22. Hey Ms. Frederick do you know what the next books going to be about? Are you going to make a 7th book? plleezzee!

  23. This book is so good! I like how you added a chapter for Becca! It’s fun hearing her perspective! I think I’d read the Besty-Tacy books! I recommend Home for the Holidays!

  24. I’m so ma I called barnes and noble and they were closed and my mom said she wouldn’t take me there before school!!! I like have waited forever and I haven’t read it yet 

  25. It just came!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Mrs. Frederick for writhing the amazing series:)

  26. I just finished Home for the holidays and it is the best one yet!!!!!!!!! Im in love with these books and can’t wait for another one to come out! Are you writing more? These books are amazing and i keep rereading them because I love them so much! Also I really like how you added becca as a point of view! I have told all my friends about the books and they are all hooked! The MDBC feels like real characters to me and probably most of the girls who have read them feel it to. Also my favorite character is Jess I love her and darcy! Please keep these books coming as they are my favorite!!!!!
     your BIGGEST fan ever!!!!!!

  28. Hi Heather!

I am itching to get my hands on this book! I’m sure it will be just as awesome as the others!
I hope to get it soon! I can’t wait to see what happens to Megan, Jess, Becca, Emma, and Cassidy!
I have to read it soon before I go crazy! πŸ™‚

  29. I’VE ALREADY FINISHED IT! only a week after it came out, what a fan i am, i’m so happy one of my best friends Simone recommended this book series to me!! I love the part when….. oops no spoilers!!

  30. Loved the book going to re-read it on christmas eve, great way to get ready for Santa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! πŸ™‚

  31. ok girls im back havent been on for awhile finished the book yesterday!!!!! Heather some of your best work yet!!! are you open to suggests about your next book?

    • Hi there — hope you don’t mind I edited out the spoilers — still a lot of readers haven’t been able to get their hands on it yet. But I LOVE LOVE LOVED hearing all your favorite parts!!! So thank you!!! πŸ™‚ And yes, of course I’m open to suggestions. Doesn’t mean I’ll DO anything with them ha ha, but you never know…

  32. Does anyone know if there’s gonna b anymore after home for the holidays?? i suggest you get all the girls’ boyfriends and brothers to start a book club with their dads. That would be so COOL!!!!!!!!

  33. I cannot wait for the next book! i read the book Home for the holidays in two days. i could have read it in a day but i wanted to save it for when i could really sit down and read it! Then i read it in a day! I loved it so much! My faverite character is Emma! I love to read and write just like her! I wish i could meet you but i live in Michigan…. What is the next book going to be about?

  34. Got it a little while ago from the library after school but had homework! Took all ounces of my willpower not to start it! But then, at night, I read under the covers………….. πŸ™‚

  35. Congratulations! its so exciting i already read the book. FANTABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!
i think becca doesn’t seem as bad of a person when you read her chapters, but in the other chapters its back to old Becca, i love it…fantastic

  36. ok you have to write more books. you should write them all the way so the girls have kids and then they make a second generation mother daughter book club.

  37. The fabulous and remarkable book came one day before my birthday. I remember going to the bookstore with my BFF and we turned the whole store upside down looking for it. We went to customer service and asked a ton of questions and eventually came out with an unexpected one year membership to the book club there. πŸ™‚ I have to say when I closed the book I cried. I could picture Pies and Prejudice and the shadows of Emma, Jess, Megan, Cassidy, and REbecca. It was memorable book. Thank you Heather Vogel Frederick and

  38. This story really spoke to me because my father lost his job a year ago but he has a fantabulous job now but between that hard period he had a job at……..

    CHUCKY CHEESE’S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! πŸ™

But we burned the costume! :))

  40. Hi!!! I absolutely ADORE your books- there’s no other way to put it. They are hands-down my favourite book series ever, and I totally wish I had friends like Emma and Cassidy and Megan and Jess!

I can relate to your characters so well, and I think I have a bit of each of them in me. I’m obsessed with reading and writing like Emma, I’m a total animal-lover and kind of shy like Jess, I love fashion like Megan, and although I’m definitely not sporty like Cassidy; I love her spunk!

Concord sounds like a wonderful place to live. I’m 12, and have lived in Ontario, Canada, all my life. I’d love to live somewhere like Half Moon Farm!

I’ve never read ‘Little Women’ before, but after reading your first book, I went out and bought it. I know a lot about ‘Anne of Green Gables’ (though I’ve never been to P.E.I), so I was thrilled when you chose it for your characters to read in ‘Much Ado About Anne’.

I’m currently re-reading ‘Much Ado About Anne’ for the second time, and I literally laughed out loud when I came to the part where the girls all over-turned each other’s canoes on that field trip. I found it hilarious how Mrs. Chadwick yelled “Swim for your life! I’m coming to save you!” when Becca was only in the water waist-deep.

I’m just at the part where the fashion show to save Half Moon Farm happens; which means I’ve only got a little bit more to go. I’m then going to read ‘Dear Pen Pal’ and continue on from there.

I would love to see these books turn into movies! I could audition for the part of Emma, haha πŸ™‚ Anyway… I can’t wait to read the rest of this series! It’s fantastic! πŸ™‚

    • Thank you so much for your enthusiasm, Jenna! It may interest you to know that when I was your age, I was a mixture of Emma (obvious reasons) and Jess (because I love animals, and because I used to be super shy). Concord WAS a wonderful place to live! And yes, it would be fun if the stories ended up as movies, but unfortunately I don’t have any control over that. Maybe somebody in Hollywood will “discover” them!

  41. Hey Heather I live in McMinville but I was wondering if you were going to be at any book stores and stuff. I’ve got all my friends hooked to your books! WE LOVE YOU!

    • YES, Abby! Look for me at Powell’s Books on Cedar Hills Boulevard in Beaverton on Tuesday, November 29th at 7 p.m. Hope to see you there! πŸ™‚

  42. I totally LOVE your books ms.frederick. My best friend Natalie got me hooked and i’v been reading them ever since. Natalie and I are going to start a book club with five best friends. How would we get ahold of you on skype? We would love for you to be at one our meetings somtime in the future. Are you going to write more books, because that would be sooooooo awsome.

    gracie πŸ™‚ πŸ˜€

    • HI Grace — if you start a book club and want to Skype with me, all you have to do is have an adult (mom, teacher, librarian, etc.) contact me and we’ll work out the details for the visit. I love chatting with my fans! πŸ™‚

  43. me and my bff rlly love ur books and we got it together at a bookstore we were screaming and b4 we left my friend hugged the women at the bookstore! no joke

          • Team zach because tristian was so mean to cassidy an then all of the sudden he likes her like thats so not cool and zach is described like he is way more atractive than tristian was described but i also didnt like how zach just kissed her he knew she wasnt interested

Also at my school they are now starting a book club and I made sure I signed up πŸ™‚ So far only a couple of people joined but now like more people wanna join so idk lol we are reading the book schooled. By the way, are you ever coming to New York?

  50. yes you should soooooooooooooo come!!! i wanna to meet so badly, sign my books. i’ll make sure i bring my friends with me, i tell them to read your books. but they said that they’re not really into realistic fiction.whtever….. either way your book rock! im begging you make a movie, show my friends what you got!!!

    • Names come from so many places — I’ve kept a notebook of names that I like for years (like since college), and I add to it from time to time. “Clementine” sat in there for decades, waiting for the right character. I also look at baby name books, online, used to look at phone books when they still existed, I pinch names from people I know sometimes, names I overhear — just everywhere! The inspiration for the books also comes from many places — my own growing up years, things I observe, a great deal that’s simply invented, to name just a few.

  51. Ms. Frederick i absolutely love your books! my grandpa gave me the series for this Christmas! i haven’t yet read Home For the holidays, (i`m half way through Pies and Prejudice) bit im sure it will be awesome like all the others! i sent you an email earlier today, and i am waiting for your response! thank you for creating such an entertaining book series!

    • I will look forward to answering your email soon — now that I’m finished writing WISH YOU WERE EYRE, I’ll be getting caught up on all my mail! Might take a bit, but I’ll get to it. πŸ™‚

  52. I absolutely love these books! I have been reading them since 4th grade, and I completely forgot that the 5th book came out until about a week ago! I love all of the characters (but especially Megan). I can’t wait to finish the book!
