An exciting announcement!

You asked for it — you got it:  There’s going to be a seventh Mother-Daughter Book Club book!!!!

I just got the good news today from my wonderful publisher Simon & Schuster. I’ll be diving in immediately, and if I can get my skates on here and write at top speed, it will be published in the Summer of 2015.

Oh how FUN!  I get to spend time with Emma and Jess and Cassidy and Megan and Becca again!  And Gigi!  And Mrs. Chadwick!  And Wolfgang! And, well, everybody!

I need to go bake chocolate chip cookies right this minute to celebrate…

      • Hey! So… About 2 years ago I read MDBC and loved it! And About a year ago I found your blog, Just wondering… What will MDBC7 Be called??

        • MDBC #7 will be called MOTHER-DAUGHTER BOOK CAMP. 🙂 Because the girls will be working as counselors at a summer camp.

          • Yes! Thank you Heather! I cried when I finished Wish You Were Eyre! Your authors note was so sweet! I will be very upset to see the Mother-Daughter Book Club leave, but it will always stay in my heart! Thank you so much though! You are the best author ever! I LOVE MDBC! LONG LIVE THE MOTHER-DAUGHTER BOOK CLUB!

    • I just re-read all of the books then I get the news. I was jumping up and down with excitement. Thank you so much for this, it’s my favorite series.

  1. I just made cookies before finding out. 🙂 My sister and I are SUPER excited and texting all of your friends right now.

  2. Oh. My. Goodness. I can not even contain my excitement! I remember when the sixth book was coming out we all begged you for another one, and now our wish has come true! Thank you thank you thank you thank you! Another year with the girls will make me so happy. And I’ll be sixteen by the time it comes out…it’s strange to think because I was only around twelve when I first started reading the books.

  3. hi! I have been reading these books since 3rd grade (I am now in 7th) and I love them beyond words. I was so sad when I thought that Wish You Were Eyre was the last book. I just freaked out when I got this post in my email inbox! so to sum it up- I CAN’T WAIT!

    • I started in like 1st or 2nd- saw them on a display at Barnes & Noble and took 1st one to Disney World with me. Now I am in 7th and have all of the books in hardcover.

  4. Almost started to cry!! My sister in the other room heard me gasp and asked what was wrong hahahah 😀 i am thrilled! I’m tickled Hawthorne-kitchen-pink!! Even though I’ll be away in college when it releases I will definitely be reading it. This is hands down my favorite book series. CANNOT WAIT!

    • I’ll be in college too! But its all good I’m so happy and excited I could cry! Thanks Heather for granting our wish, you are the best! 🙂

  5. Yes!!!! Just yes!!! You are one of my favorite authors and I am so glad there’s another book! YAY!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

  6. Yay!!!!!! I was so sad thinking that Wish You Were Eyre was the last book. I can’t wait to see what will happen this time!!!!!

  7. YAY!! sooooo excited! Now I don’t have to keep re-reading the series! (not that that’s a bad thing…) So looking forward to it! What’s going to happen?? My brain is in over-load thinking of possibilities!!! THANK YOU HEATHER AND CONGRATS!!!

  8. Yayayayayay!! My sister told me when I got home from school, and I didn’t believe her at first bc it seemed too good to be true! YAY!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited!

  9. I litterly screamed and was like “No way!!!” No words can describe my excitement!!!! When will it come out?

  10. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Yes!!!!!!!! Oh My Gosh I am so happy!

  11. Oh my goodness this is really exciting! I finished reading your books a long time ago and was so sad that there wouldn’t be another MDBC, but when I got an email notifying me you had update your website, I knew I had to comment. This is so awesome and even though I’m a little old to be reading them still, I am definitely buying a copy as soon as it comes out! Congratulations again and I’m so happy you decided to write another book yay! (Also, I told one of my sisters about your books, and right away she was hooked. About every 3 days she would come into my room and ask for the next book in the series. Once she finished the mother daughter book club, she went to once upon a toad. She will be super excited to hear about the new book!)

  12. Oh my gosh, words can’t express how excited I am! Congratulations and thank you so much! This made my day! 😀

  13. AAAAHHHHH!!!! this just made my entire week!!!!!!!! I just finished re-reading Wish You Were Eyre last night, and i was thinking to myself how if there was a 7th book how it would go….anyways….YAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!! i CAN’T WAIT!

  14. EEEEEAAAAAKKKKKKKKKKK! Its so far away but then again, good things are worth waiting for!!! Is it going to be a carry-on from the last one or will it pick up later in life??

  15. I haven’t been reading the posts for a while but I was still receiving the email notifications and I randomly decided to check it out today and I was SUPER surprised! I immediately started telling everyone!!! I can’t wait to find out the details of what it will entail!!!

  16. Thank goodness!!! My favorite series from my favorite author! Thank you heather Vogel Frederick for keeping your fans on their toes! Sumer 2015 needs to hurry up!!

  18. OH MY WORD OH MY WORD OH MY WORD *SCREAMING IN EXCITEMENT* I feel like I’ve grown up with MDBC and was crushed when the last book came out because, well, it was the last! but not anymore! I can look forward to another 😀 But the wait will kill me…. Hurry!

    • I felt like that, too! I’ve read and reread the books since fourth grade, and it’s my first year of middle school now. I’ve liked to read the very first one over and over this year, because they’re all the same age as me. I like to think the MDBC will be like the Betcy-Tacy series to Becca’s grandmother to me one day. 😀

  19. I’m so excited! I missed being able to read what happens to the girls in the book club. Is it going to be a continuation from the last book, or is it going to be about them a few years later?

  21. I am so excited!!!! When I read the post, I did a happy dance in my living room!! This news made my day! 🙂

  23. Oh my goodness!!!!!! Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU! I was absolutely CRUSHED when I found out Wish You Were Eyre was the last book! It’s hard to believe how long I’ve been reading this series- 4 years!!! I’ve re-read them a million times!! And I’m not over- exaggerating!!! I’m still in shock!! When you showed us the cover of your other new book, Absolutely Truly, (which I’m über excited about) and you said that there was another cover you will be showing, were you talking about this one?? Or is there THREE new books?! Eeeeeep!!! Either way I’m still excited!!!!!

  24. YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀 I’m so excited!! It’s going to be so awesome! Yay! Summers are always full of fun and next summer will be extra sunshiny … 🙂

  25. YES!!!!!!! I screamed when I saw this and I can’t wait until the summer of 2015! I wonder who will be on the front cover, and what classic they will read. I really adore this series because I feel like I’m reading a classic in another book–so…a book in a book! This way, I learn more about classic literature (which is crucial in high school I heard ;)) in a modern book. Anyway, I’m really looking forward to when it comes out! Thank you so much, Heather!

  26. OH MY GOODNESS!!! I’m so happy right now!! This is the best news I’ve heard all day! I think I might go make some cookies too. Maybe I’ll have some tea with them. AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!! This is just so exciting!! 🙂

I have just stopped screaming- I am so happy! 😀 And it’s such a coincedence because just today I was telling my mom about how sad I was that there were no more MDBC books!

    Thank you so much!!!

  28. Oh,Wow! Oh,Wow. Oh,Wow!!!!!!!!!
I am totally crazily happy. I didn’t think this would EVER happen!! You make my world Heather. The MDBC is a book I can forget me own life and become one of them, sometimes I get to caught up in your books I get in trouble. But its worth it!

  29. Hearing this news had made my whole week I cannot wait to read the next mdbc because I read the whole set like 500 times but when I read it I still can’t wait to see what is going to happen next but still ……………….I CAN’T WAIT

  30. Yay!!! This is so exciting ! You should make the book club read the racehorse book Jess hinted at in the fifth book….” I thought we were going to pick the books this year for a change, said Jess softly, looking disappointed. She’d been pushing for some story about a racehorse.” But whatever they read I can tell it’s going to be awesome and I’m really looking forward to it! 😀 😀

  31. I am so excited for the book to come out, since this series is one of my favorites, and I’ve reread the books countless times! Can’t wait to see what the title is and what they’re going to read!

  32. YAY!!!!! That is sooo great!! I cant wait!!! You are still one of my favorite authors and i can not wait to read the next book!! I am so excited!!

    • are you going to introduce a new character or repeat on of the girls on the cover? Also how are you picking the book they will read?

  33. Fantastic! I’m so excited! I can’t wait to dive back into their world. Thank you for writing another book in the series!!!!

  34. I’m really excited I just started reading your books and it’s one of the best series I’ve started to read thanks so much your a great writer the books inspire me to write a book of my own and I’m in sixth grade thanks

  35. This is so exciting!!! I am going to burst with excitement!! Will you have another poll so we can vote for who is on the cover again this time?

    • I don’t think so — but I’m not sure. I already know who’s going to be on the cover, so maybe we can have a poll and vote on something else this time around. Stay tuned!

  36. He he he!!!!!!! I almost died of happiness when I found out!!!!! One of my friends called and I melted into a puddle of joy.

  37. Dear Mrs. Frederick, I was so excited when I found out about the 7th book! I was like so happy because Mother-daughter book club is my favorite series! Whenever you find out what book they will be reading please let me know! Oh another question, will the Mdbc be finishing their last year of g ighschool or starting college?

  38. Woohoo!! A couple days ago I finished the series and was trying to get over there being no more, so, I decide to email you and I see the blog sign and click it , thinking: why not? Once I see the announcement I’m SOOOOO excited! You have to write about their junior and senior year and also their college years!! Maybe then you could go into another series for the original mdbc girls’ daughter’s lives ….. Ps: you will get a letter from me soon!!

  39. Thank you sooo much, Mrs. Frederick! My literal reaction was hands-to-face, a big huge ohhhh… (happy sigh), and even a teeny tiny tear up!

  40. I always re-read the books and I’m PSYCHED for this new one! If you want more MDBC stuff to read, google mother daughter book club fanfiction. There are lots of people who write their own stories with the same characters and stuff! Check it out:)

  41. dear miss heather Vogel Fredrick’s , when do you think your new book absolutely truly is coming out and what is the minor character mdbc?

    • ABSOLUTELY TRULY will be out next fall (November, I think). You’ll have to wait until then to find out who the (very) minor MDBC character is who makes an appearance! 😉

  43. Another one!! Yay!!!!!!! Can’t believe it!! It’s really interesting to see what my friend’s think. Better watch what I think!

  44. OMG! I am new here but I literally started crying at this news! I swaer, this series is the best series in the world and that I never want it to end! I think you are a amazing writer.

  45. wait, what?!?!? it is going to be published in 2015????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pleaase Mrs. Frederick, make it sooner! I can’t wait that long! I think I’m gonna cry…

    • I wish I could! Alas, it takes time to write a book, and then time to edit it, design the cover, print it, distribute it, etc. Patience is a virtue, right?

      • Totally. Though, I do have to admit…I’m kind of on an end!!! But, I’ll keep waiting! After All, if we rushed you, it wouldn’t be as good! Right!!!

  46. Your book covers have always been so gorgeous. In fact, it was the covers that made me discover my favorite series! Which color will the cover be next? A cheerful buttermilk yellow? A peppy green? But PLEASE not orange! Anything but that!

  47. My friends and I have been reading your books along with there accompanying classics this year in our mother daughter book club, and we are whole heartedly in love with them! So with great anticipation we await your next book in the series. 😀

    • Thanks, Morgan! How COOL that you’re reading what “my” book club girls are reading! That makes me so happy! 🙂

      • I admit I’m a bit of the Emma of our group so I have read all but the Betsy Tracy books and Jane Eyre before but I love rereading them all along with you extremely charming books. It makes it easier to connect to the girls inthe classics not to mention my not so book wormy friends have been very inspired to read more in general because of you books. Thank you somuch for taking the time to write them!! By the way my friends and iI wrote you letter in book club. 🙂

    • Sneak peek of ABSOLUTELY TRULY coming in a few weeks, but have barely started MDBC #7 so even I don’t know the answer to that! Ha!

  48. I’m so excited. I’ll be a freshmen when this comes out and I can’t believe we get another !!

I was also wondering if you had any advice for an aspiring author? I’d really like to start working on a novel and I just thought you may have some adivce?

thank you SO VERY MUCH for an additional book!! 🙂

    • I’d love to share some advice with you, Maggie! I’m gonna email you directly, OK? And you’re welcome. 🙂

    • Oh… Yes… I am glad to see another person wants to be an Author!!! That’s great MAGGIE!! I LOVE WRITING!!

  49. Eeeeeep!!!!!!!!! I’m so excited!! 😀 Ahhh *fangirling moment* I had a feeling you weren’t finished with the series yet… my intuition was right 😉

  50. Oh My Gosh!!!! I thought the series was over!! I was depending on fan fiction to tide me over from my loss. I am so happy to see more Jess and Darcy and Emma and Stewart and everyone!!!!! I kind of want to do a celebratory dance but it is pretty late and i’m tired. I’m telling my friends about this tomorrow. We all love the series!!! I cant wait!!

    • Another afterthought…
Did you like writing when you are growing up? I have some really fun ideas for books and stories that i kids of want to make happen, but every time I try I get extremely bored. I want to write because i feel like it would be really fun getting to know the characters like i do while reading, but they would do what ever i want them to. I really do try I want to love writing but it bores me to death. I was just wondering if you were the same as a child or if you have any advice.

P.S. I am loving the little icon i got it is a very nice purple and the pattern is fabulous!

      • I always loved writing, Olivia. If it bores you or you don’t like it, set it aside. Maybe keep a notebook with story ideas, and wait until you’re just BURSTING to write one, then try again. If it’s not something you truly enjoy, though, focus on reading instead, which you clearly DO enjoy! No reason to force yourself to do something that’s a chore rather than a joy. My two cents…

  51. I like the idea of writing. But when I write, my sister always writes better and I stop.( Just so you know, I’m a triplet!)

    • A triplet? How cool is that?! Don’t get discouraged and don’t compare yourself to anyone else. That’s dead-end thinking. You are unique, and your writing is going to be unique! We’re cheering you on! 🙂

    • Writing only takes practice. Don’t stop doing something just because one of your older siblings is better at doing it then you are. In order to achieve something, you have to believe you can do it.

  52. Hey… Again… Just wondering, could you possibly make there be a girl who is in a wheelchair join the group??? My sister has spina-bifida and I know she would love the series even more than she does now if there was a girl in a wheelchair!!

    Is that possible??
    Thanks SOOOOO much!!!

    • Interesting — you never know what characters might pop up in future books. You are a fabulous and very supportive sister, to be thinking this way!

  53. I jumped up and started dancing around my hotel room when I read those words–so excited! Thanks to everyone who is making it happen! Long live the Mother Daughter Book Club!

  54. I started reading the MDBC series in when 6th grade, now I’m in 10th and I am still in love with them!! I can relate to them so easily which makes them my “go-to” series, and the fact that they bring me so much comfort like Mac and cheese or chocolate chip cookies :). I was so sad when the sixth book ended but now a new one is coming out and I literally screamed with excitement because these books mean so much to me! Thank you Heather Vogel Fredrick for writing these books- and continuing the series- because my life wouldn’t be the same without them!!

    • You’re welcome, Mae!!! And by the way, I LOVE thinking of my books as “comfort food” — literary Mac and cheese! 😉

      • I thought of something you could make Emma say, “literary world” I just love how that sounds, right Heather?

      • They are SO comfort food to me too! I took out Wish You Were Eyre from the library for the 20th time and when I looked at the comments, someone said there was going to be a Book 7. I couldn’t believe it! I held my breath and went to your website really fast to find out if its really true and when I saw that it was, I wanted to scream so badly! I laughed/cried instead tho :)Thank you SO MUCH! I can’t wait!
Oh and also, I absolutely loved Absolutely Truly and I found out at the same time that you were going to write a series! You have no idea how much you just made me HAPPY! Love every book of your! Thank you!!!!

  55. I love these books! when the 7th comes out (if its out in 2015) I will be 16! I will still be reading it! I love all of the girls in it and feel like I can really relate to them!I would love to see (even if its in a epilogue)the girls lives when they are older and who they end up with and their kids ETC. I cannot wait to read this book!

  56. OMG, congrats
You inspired my sister to start a book club of her own, and you have proven to me that if you stick your mind to it you can do anything, even through complications, like getting characters all mixed up between reading and writing

  57. I think I’m going to cry. Like, legit. I mean, when I was reading the acknowledgements for Wish You Were Eyre, I was thinking, “What if Heather’s actually just joking that this is the last one, and she’s going to publish a seventh as a surprise?!” I didn’t actually think that would happen. Do you think that you could add more Cassidy and Tristan in this next one? And guess what? I was reading a book the other day and there was a character in it named Annabelle Fairfax! It’s called Howl’s Moving Castle. Coincidence!
Sorry for the long comment, I had a lot to say.

    • I LOVE Howl’s Moving Castle! And guess what? I read it several years after PIES & PREJUDICE. I was so surprised to see the name Annabelle Fairfax I nearly fell out of my chair…

  58. OMG i am so happy i just read your sixth book and cant wait for the seventh. And i can connect because i have been to Concord,MA though i live in Boston.

  59. Hi miss heather! I am so happy you are going to write a new MDBC! It is my favorite series of all time! when i found out that wish you where eyre was the last book in the series i was so sad! when i finished that book i went, looking for a new adventure with more friends and more great things to discover! but i never found one that was as great as the MDBC….. I always thought that it would be fun if the book followed the girls into college and when they are young adults then into getting married and finally their own daughters and they start their OWN book club! that would be awesome! so thank you so much for writing more MDBC! i also have a quick question miss heather………. i have an idea that i always thought would make a good kids book or a mini short….. so here it is…… does anyone know about those little smiley faces that people use on the computer that move? well i just thought it would be fun if you zoomed into their point of view and felt what it would be like to wave hi or be crying or to be getting mad for the rest of forever. If you dont get the idea miss heather its ok but thx for listening anyway….(sorry for writing so much, i was just so exited about the new book!)
    -CASSIDY 🙂

  60. hi miss Heather! thank you so so much for writing another MDBC! I was EXTREMELY sad when I found out that “Wish You Were Eyre” was the last book in the series. You will not believe how happy I was when I found out that you were making another MDBC! Please miss heather, don’t ever end the stories of Megan, Cassidy, Emma, Jess, and Becca! I would love to read about how well they turn out to be as adults. And maybe even start a book club with their own daughters!

  61. hi miss heather! thank you so much for writing another book! MDBC is my all time favorite book! when i found out that “Wish You Were Eyre” was the last book in the series I was super sad! when i finished reading the last book in the series i started to look for more books. But i have not found one single book that makes me as happy when i read it the way your books do, PLEASE MISS HEATHER DON’T EVER END THE STORIES OF MEGAN, EMMA, JESS, CASSIDY, AND BECCA EVER END! i would love to see how well they turn out as adults and ,who knows?……. maybe even their own book club with their own daughters!

    thank you miss Heather.

  62. Is this the same book as Absolutely Truly or is this something different? Sorry I just commented two different times on two different posts aha I’m just so excited!

    • No, Fumi — this is different from ABSOLUTELY TRULY (that’s not a MDBC book). It’s the 7th MDBC! Doesn’t have a title yet…

      • oh okay got confused since you said a minor character from MDBC was going to be in Absolutely Truly but yayayay this is even better than I could’ve imagined!

  64. Yay! Thanks Heather! I am SO happy you decided to write a 7th MDBC book! I made a bunch of acronyms for the characters! Here’s Emma’s-
    E-energetic about reading
M-made a story that was published by Roopert’s aunt
    M-makes awesome cookies
    A-a great author (like you!)

      • Thanks! I did one for each of the main characters so Cassidy, Emma (you already know that :-D) Jess, Megan, and Becca. Jess and Becca were a little harder. Can you think of one for them Heather?

  65. I can’t believe it! I cannot tell you how much I have been waiting for this!!! These books literally taught me how to live 🙂

  66. YAY! I love the Mother Daughter Book Club Books! I have read them so many times I know them like the back of my hand! Can’t wait to hear more about the new book!

  67. When do you think you will be releasing an excerpt of the book miss heather? I cant wait!
Thank you do much for writing another book they are my favorite series!

  68. Yay!!! Exciting news! A great high school graduation present for me since I will be graduating about that time 🙂

  69. Please tell me it will be sooner than next summer! And how long do you estimate it will be Heather? My goal is to read a 500 page book and if it was your book that would be amazing!!!

    • Well, I can tell you for sure that it won’t be 500 pages, Haley. But I hope it will be a good long story that everyone can fall into and enjoy!

  70. So miss heather, what is your writing process, and how is your procces to publish a book? Do you limit yourself to the number of pages the book is or do you just go along with the story line?

Thank you for taiking the time to read this!

    • Oh my goodness, I could write a whole BOOK about my writing process! You’ll find quite a bit of information in the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page on my website. Here’s the link:

As far as publishing a book, it’s a long process. You’ll definitely want to check out a resource called the Writer’s Market (your local library should have a copy), which is updated annually and contains information on every publisher in the U.S. (and maybe Canada too), and what their submission requirements are for manuscripts. There’s also a great book for young writers called “Spilling Ink” by Ellen Potter and Anne Mazer, that I highly recommend. Lots of great information there. And finally, I NEVER limit myself as far as page count goes. Just tell the story and let the chips fall where they may! 🙂

  71. is it, for you easier to title the book before you write it or after
I’m kinda looking for some writing tips

    • Titles come both ways, Ems — sometimes before I even have an idea for a story, other times during the writing process, and other times at the very end. There’s no right or wrong when it comes to writing. It’s very unique to each individual. 🙂

  72. Thank goodness! I was so sad when I finished Wish you were Eyre. Will the berkleys be in this book?

  73. Hello Heather! I have been looking all over your blog to find your e-mail address and i dont see it! I have looked in contact and it says “contact heather by e-mail or snail mail” i see where to contact you by snail mail but not by e-mail, could you please comment back your e-mail? Thank you in advance.

    Your #1 fan- Daisy 🙂

  74. Just saw this (i’m a bit behind haha) and I am literally over the moon. Thankyou thankyou thankyou! Whenever you come back to cape cod, let me know and i’d love to be able to meet up!

  75. Yay!Thank you so much! Do think you could add a little more of Cassidy and Tristan and Zach love triangle? And maybe more Jess and Darcy moments? Just a thought! Thanks, The Mother-Daughter Book Club is my life!

  76. What?! I’m sooooo happy! These have been my favorite books for years – I have grown up with the characters! Thank you Heather, thank you!!!

Also, do you think you will ever write anything for older teens? I really enjoy your style of writing but it would be great to have something a bit more advanced… 😀

    • I have to write the stories that come to me, Jenni. Who knows what the future holds, though! 😉

  77. I’m rereading Wish You Were Eyre right now; it is always delightful and comforting for me to visit my MDBC friends. I happened to scroll through your blog and found this post- I couldn’t be more excited! Thank you for the wonderful world you have created that I get to be a part of when I read your books!

And I like so many other people have been reading fanfiction. soooo happy!!! thanks sooooo much!

  79. What will the next book be about? Will there be any new characters? One more question, please tell me there will be a next book after this one!

  80. Thank god you are writing another one! I own all the books and each one is stained with a thousand different kinds of foods. I just love all the romances and I just have one request if this is your last MDBC book can you please write an epilogue? It will still make me sad when there is not another book but it would drive me absolutely nuts if I didn’t know what happened to everyone I cannot believe that this would be the 7th amazing book. Thank you so much for writing these they just are the best it’s just the truth!

    • Will give it some thought, Carly. Whether there’s an epilogue or not, you’ll definitely have an idea of what the girls’ futures will look like! 😉

  81. I am soo excited! I remember writing an email after the last one was published and asked if another one would be written and you said you had an idea. Like, no words can express how excited I am 🙂

  82. I went online to look at your website and I saw this and I almost fell out of my chair! I love the mother daughter book club series so so much! I am on “pies and prejudice” right now and will be sure to spread the books out until 2015! Thank you sooo much! I cant wait! 🙂

  83. First of all I just love the MDBC!! I live in Morocco and actually won the MDBC #1 by entering my schools reading contest(and im glad I did because it was totally wort it!)I was shouting YES!!! when I heard another book is comming out.I just wish that the series could go on forever, or at least have a movie(Im thinking about starting a website were we could gather fans and have shoutouts for a movie until a filmdirector notices lol:))Lastly just wanted to say that you are an amazing writer, and may god bless you for putting many smiles on girls like me xxSAFAE
P.S: if you ever come to Morocco, I would be more than happy to give you my adres :))

  84. I’m so excited!!! I just started reading your books this past spring and I love them! They are my favorite books!

  85. OMG! I have a blog and used Emma Hawthorne as my pseudonym! Hilarious! I am SO excited! Thank you, Heather!

  86. I am sooooo excited. I love all the characters. The series is amazing and I always love falling into a MDBC book. When will the new book be set? Thank You Simon & Shcuster. (hope I spelled that right)

  87. I can’t wait I just finished Wish You Were Eyre! I got to the end and I was so worried like MDBC better not leave me I need to know what happens. Your one of my favorite authors and it makes me feel like I’m there expecting to go to school and see Emma reading a book and Cassidy (hope I spelled that right) talking about hockey. Your writing takes me away to a different world. You make it sounds like teens are wrote it and you really understand like the lives of most teens. Besides that they are all almost famous 🙂 keep writing forever you will go down in history like all those famous writers’ books they read. You are the reason I love to keep reading. In my my eyes you are changing the world with your books one page at a time!

  88. i cant waittt! I really love reading about Cassidy and Tristan and it would be great if you mentioned more of them in the next book! I am so excited,i just read wish you were eyre and i was pretty sure that was the last book in the series…i cant believe there is going to be a seventh one

  89. Do you know the name of the book yet? I love this series sooooooo much and thank you so much for writing another book.

  90. SOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!! I love these books so much I’ve read them all like 100000000″ times. PLEASE LET JESS GET INTO A COLLAGE NEAR DARCY’S. And also, are you going to write an Epuloge (I think that’s how it’s spelled) explaining what happens later in life or are you just going to leave us hanging? And what is the systems for who is on the cover? Is it always one of the book club members or can it be other people too? TRISTAN AND CASSIDY SHOULD GO TO THE OLYMPICS TOGETHER!! I love them:) Can’t wait for the book and good luck writing it I’m sure it’s going to be a success!!

    • Oh, so many questions! All will be answered when the book comes out! 😉 As for who is on the cover, it will *probably* be Emma, but I don’t know for sure yet. Thank you for your enthusiasm & happy new year!

  91. I can’t even begin to describe my excitement all I can say is thank you. I’ll be reading the day it comes out.

  92. OMG this post just made my year!!! I have been praying so hard for a book 7 to come out and it’s finally happening!!! I am completely speechless! Whenever I need to get my mind off things or I just start reading, my mom has to pull the book out of my hands.. I have even read each book 2 times and I the end, i wanted to right myself anothet one but I decided that no one else can write it better than the original author. I can’t thank you enough! What’s the title going to be?

  93. YESSSS!!!
I thought this was the end of the series, I was so sad, but yes, please do not ever end this series, it is so clever, simple, and fun! Looking at people mourning over the end of Heroes of Olympus, now I really understand why!!!!

    THANK YOU!!!!<3

  94. Can you give us just a little teeny tiny itty bit of hint of what will happen? Please include more British Berkerlys,Becca’s Mr.Rochester and Sophie! I just love them!!!!

  95. YAY!!! I AM SO EXCITED!!!! I have read the series multiple times and it just gets better and better. I hope you will continue the series all the way through high school, just like the Betsy-Tacy series!

  96. So psyched! I read the first one back in 09, super excited for the next one! Hopefully you’ll follow the girls through til graduation!

  97. After you finish and publish it make a movie! Email me about auditions, Heather! I’m on the fifth book and easily could finish reading the series in 2 and a half months. I’m only 9 and in third grade, but I’m almost 5′ 1″ so I could easily pass as a sixth grader. I also have a resume I could send you. Please make a movie!
    <3, cherrylipgloss

    • I would love it if you made a movie! I’m in 6th grade and have finished the entire series. I am pretty small/average and feel like I would play an amazing Emma! Please someone tell some famous producer so this becomes an awesome movie!!!!!!!

  98. Yeees Just finished the last book Saturday can’t wait love all the book, and also is Jess and Darcy still dating how about Emma and Stewart and what about Megan and Becca and Cassidy and what about Gigi just want to know sssoo bad. Also Hannah what is the title going to be just give me a hint please if you already have one

  99. hi!!!!!!!!!! i cant wait till the next book comes! do u know the date? or if u can let us c sneak peak!!!! i just so cant wait. i hope u can make this book a long 1 because i am so not putting down this book!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Sneak peek will be coming along later this spring. No title or publication date yet … stay tuned! 🙂

  100. Are you really publishing a book seven? I can’t wait to see what happens with the girls and their boyfriends and of course the mother plus Gigi to and FABULOUS Wolfgang! Is their a title?

  101. Is this going to be the absolute last one or are you going to keep on writing more? *crosses fingers for more*

  102. Hello!!! I am a huge fan of the series! I started the series when I was in fourth grade and am now am in high school! I am dying know more information about the book! Is there anything about it you can tell me? Where will the book club go this time…. Any trips or adventures coming their way? Do you have a general idea of when it will come out?

    • No title yet or firm publication date — stay tuned. I can tell you that the book will take place during the summer between high school graduation and “off to college.” The book club will be working at a summer camp for girls! 😉

  103. I am so excited!!! I have read all the books at least 3 times and always find them addicting. I have fallen in love with CONCORD ( I live 20 minutes from the real place) and all the students at Alcott high( and colonial academy of course) most of all I fell a real connection between be and the mother daughter book club girls and again I am so excited to read more of there adventures this summer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  104. I read the first book in our own mother daughter book club and LOVED it. I didn’t realize that they had more until this year and I got so excited. I am reading the last book now and am really happy that a new book is coming out. I love all of the friendships, pranks, and sweet romance

P.S I heard a movie is coming out. Is that true?

    • Yay! So glad you discovered the rest of the books, Alice. 🙂 Alas, no movie, though. Maybe someday?

  105. could you pleaseeee put cassidy on the cover????????? she is my absoulute favorite and i write about her so much on the fanfic website! if you would make a movie, (im saying IF) who would u get to play who? u dont have to name all the characters just some pleaseeeeeee????? im dying to know!!!!!

    • Not sure who’s going to be on the cover — we’ll eventually have a big reveal, though! As for a movie, no plans in the works at this point. Anybody want to chime in on their dream cast? Just for fun?

      • Yes, I know there aren’t any movie plans but it’s always fun to dream, no? Please? What’s you dream cast for your books? Like i said, you don’t have to do ALL the characters, just a few, or maybe just one!! 😀 please??

          • Julia Roberts would be so fun for Clementine! That’s almost exactly how I imagined her, I think another person that could play her would be Christina Moore.
What do you think of Genevieve Hannelius for Jess, Francesca Capaldi for Cassidy, (she’s young but i think by the time a movie rolls around she’ll be perfect!) peyton list for becca and Peyton Meyer for Darcy? did you search these people?

          • Omigosh, I don’t know ANY of those actresses! I have some serious catching up to do! And YOU should think about a career as a casting director…

          • oh and i left out a couple, how about Munro Chambers for Stewart, Larry Miller for wolfgang, Griffin Gluck for kevin mullins, Stanley Tucci for Stanley, Helen Mirren for eva bergeson, and Abigail Breslin for Savannah.

          • Ooo, great list. I love the idea of Helen Mirren for Eva, she’s my favorite actress! Besides Maggie Smith!

        • Well, I’m not in charge of making the books into a movie, alas. The way it works is that someone  in Hollywood — an actor, director, producer, etc. — has to discover a book and think, “Wow, this would make a great movie!”  Then they take it from there.  Let’s keep our fingers crossed, though, OK?

      • As a 10th grader I feel I’m too old to be one of the girls, perhaps Courtney? I can dream! As an actress/playwright/director a movie of these books (that I grew up with!) would be such an amazing thing! Would you be opposed to fan written and produced teasers/movies?

        • I think fan film teasers etc. fall in the same category as fan fiction. I’m honored when folks choose to do that, and always appreciate it when they give credit to the source of their inspiration. 🙂

  106. OMG I CAN’T WAIT! THIS IS ABSOLUTELY MY FAVE SERIES OF ALL TIMES! When is it coming out? This summer?!?!?

    • Not quite that soon, Daisy! I’ll make an announcement once we have a publication date, so stay tuned!

      • Books take time, alas. They have to be written, edited, revised, re-edited, copy-edited, designed, printed, and promoted. Lots of steps! (I know, though — it’s hard for me to wait, too…)

  107. Hey Heather!
I absolutely TMDBC and I am going to post and article about the books on my blog soon. 🙂 I’m really looking forward to the 7th book, but I’m kinda disappointed that I have to wait. I’m currently rereading the series and I’m on Home for the Holidays. I like how you included Becca’s perspective in it. Thank you so much for writing such wonderful books for me to read!

    • So glad you’re enjoying the books, Emma. And yeah, I know, it’s a bummer that we have to wait for the 7th one. It will be worth it, though, I promise!

  108. Omigosh! I can’t wait! I cannot stop reading these books! Im re-reading my favourite parts and waiting for ‘Much Ado about Anne’ to come in since i ordered it. My favourite is Pies & Prejudice and I’m so excited! Do you know what the next one will be called?

    • I’m thinking it might be “Camp MDBC,” but we’re not sure yet. Still tinkering…

  109. Omigosh! I seriously can’t wait! I was so hoping for one and now that i found this out, I’m over the moon! My favourite character is Jess (and i hope there is some Darcy too) and my favourite so far is Pies & Prejudice! I am this series biggest fan! I can’t stop reading them! Is there a title yet?

  110. After reading your biography, I’m realizing, that you are just like Emma Hawthorne! Did you base her off yourself? Because i remember the house burning down thing in one of the books! Thats so cool!

    • Yep, when I was your age, I was a mixture of Emma (for obvious reasons) and Jess, because I love animals and because I used to be super shy. 🙂

  111. I think I’m like all of the girls:
Jess- I love math and science, i love animals, and i love to sing!

    Emma- I love to read!

Cassidy- I like to skate and play some sports!

    Megan- I love fashion!

    Becca- I like to dance!

Im mostly like Jess though 🙂

  112. I love these books! When will it be published? I want t write a book just like you with romance and humor. How do I begin? Can you give some tips?

    • Thank you! I’m so glad to know that you love the books! As for writing, just plunge in. I usually start with a scene, or a character, or a snippet of the story, and build it from there. I don’t plot things ahead of time — much — but some people really love to plot the story out. Experiment to find what works best for you. Oh, and you should track down a book called “Spilling Ink: A Young Writer’s Handbook.” Great advice in there. HAVE FUN!

  113. Omigosh! I can’t wait! This is my favourite series! I feel I’m like all of the girls:
Jess- I like to sing, love animals, and my favourite subjects are math and science
    Cassidy- I like some sports
    Emma- I love to read!
    Megan- I like fashion
    Becca- I like to dance
Is there a title for the new book? And when is it coming out?

    • The new book’s working title is “Camp MDBC,” but we’re not sure if that will be the final title. And as far as I know, it will be out in 2016. Still some steps in the process…

  114. Hi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was soooooooo exited when you said you where coming out with another book my mom went on a biz trip and came back with the 1st one and I was INSTANTLY addicted! 🙂

    • When I was your age, I was a mix of Emma (obvious reasons) and Jess (because I love animals and because I used to be super shy).  Now, as a mom, I just hope I’m more like Mrs. Hawthorne than Mrs. Chadwick LOL!!!

  115. I am so excited!! I realize this is so late compared to when you posted it (I’ve known for a little while now, but I wanted to leave a comment 🙂 Will you be having a cover release before the book hit stores? Oh my gosh I literally cannot wait!

    • Yes, most definitely will have a cover release. They told me about the concept for the cover, and it is REALLY fun! 🙂

  116. First of all, thank you so much Ms. Frederick!
You have just made my life so much better!
My MDBC journey started 4 years ago, and continues since. I have read all your MDBC books numerous times, and have never gotten sick of them. Everytime I visit the library, I always come back with at least 1 MDBC book, and I always read it first…

The MDBC girls make my life amazing and I can connect to them so much. I was very sad after Wish you Were Eyre, not because the book was bad (In fact, It was my favorite one), but because in the author’s note, you wrote that you wouldn’t make anymore. But now that’s not a problem anymore.

Also, can you please make a really special relationship between Jess and Darcy. I love them so much, and I wish I had a Darcy of my own.

    Thank you once again,

  117. Thank you so much! One reason I love your books is because you make the characters so realistic. I think I can relate to them so much! You even inspired me to read some of the other books. I started “Little Women” and I didn’t have time to finish it (but I did like it) and now I am reading the Betsy-Tacy books. I am on Betsy in Spite of Herself right now. Thank you so much for bringing the MDBC books into my life and so many others! I also love how you add the quotes at the beginning of each chapter. I have read the books so many times now that I know just what happens in each chapter and the quotes relate perfectly. And I absolutely LOVE finding the quotes in the books when I read them.

    • I’m so glad that you’re loving the Betsy-Tacy books, Erin! And yes, it’s FUN to have the quotes in my books, and then find them in the originals. I LOVE BOOK QUOTES! 😉

  118. By the way, I live in a town in Massachusetts that is pretty close to Concord, so I will probably have to convince my mother to take me on a day trip to Concord to see all the sights mentioned, just like when Becca visits Mankato. And if Pies and Prejudice were real, I would totally take a stop.

  119. Also, I thought I’d share with you- The other day I was reading something (can’t remember what) and I saw the name Emma Norton. Looks like Emma got her wish (at least before Dear Pen Pal) after all! 🙂

  120. Sorry- last time. When will the book be out? Sometimes it seems like it’s 2015 and sometimes it is 2016.

    • As far as I know, it will be 2016. I’ll post more information on exact date when I get it from my publisher…

  121. Heather,
I can’t wait for the 7th. I was so enthralled by the 1st one that I read them all in the 1st and second terms of 4th grade. I am SO SAD that I’ll have to wait till I’m in 5th grade to read the 7th. : (

Btw, if it’s a camp, will there still be mothers in it and how about Darcy and Stewert? Also, why did you skip the junior and senior years of high school?

Can you PLEASE show a sample of the next book on your website as soon as you can?

Sorry it’s such a long comment but I am over the moon about the 7th book.

    • Sneak preview coming soon! All will be revealed… and so happy that you’re “over the moon!”

      • Did the preview already come or do you know when it is coming? I can’t wait to read the 7th book. I’ve been reading this series since the day the first one came out:)

  122. I want more Jarcy! (Jess and Darcy) This series is my favourite! Im re-reading all of them and its like- ya. I can’t describe it. The feeling is AMAZING! I <3 TMDBC! (and I <3 Darcy from Pies & Prejudice)

  123. Also,
Please no breakups! If there is, ill be devastated. but its your book so i don’t care! It’ll be amazing anyway! 😉 🙂 😛

  124. One more thing. (sorry for bugging you).
On the covers of the books, which girls are which? they confused me so much!

    My possible guesses:
#1: Jess because of the semi1blonde hair
#2: Cassidy is on the cover because of the red hair
#3: Megan because of the straight dark hair
#4: Emma because of the glasses
#5: Becca because of the make-up and fashion, or Jess because of the blonde hair, and hat
#6: Megan because of the dark hair and bracelets
    #7: ?

    • You guessed exactly right! Sneak preview of the new cover coming in a bit — the art department is working on it. 🙂

  125. Oh my gosh, are you serious! I love these books so much, and my mom read them all, too. So there’s actually going to be a 7th book???? This is super super exciting for me, Mrs. Fredrick! Do you have a definite title yet?

    • Yes, there’s absolutely for sure going to be a 7th book! It’s called MOTHER-DAUGHTER BOOK CAMP, because “our” book club girls will be working as counselors at a summer camp. 🙂

  126. I’m so excited! I check back every so often to read comments from other people…it’s actually kind of fun! Question time!: will you be giving out ARC’s for review when the book is semi published? Also, have you thought about doing an epilogue at the end of the book? And also (for the last time lol) make the book as looong and possible! Thanks for taking the time to read my comment Miss Heather! Can’t wait for your response!<3

    • I will be doing some sort of giveaway as the publication date draws closer, so definitely stay tuned. There will be sneak previews later this spring (or early summer) too. As for an epilogue, you’ll just have to wait and see…

  127. Okay. I’m dying because I really want this book to come out! I’m re-reading the whole series over and over until number seven comes out because i don’t want to forget about it. I’m also a little bit crazy because i have an Instagram fan account for it so yeah. Is there a possibility that there could be a book eight? Because I think it would be cool that the series ends with them graduating high school and going to college! And them coming to Canada. Because that’d be awesome so yeah. I’m so excited as you can see 🙂

    • Well, book seven is the final one in the series BUT it takes place during the summer between high school graduation and going off to college, so you sort of get your wish. 😀 I’d love to send the girls to Canada — it’s one of my favorite places on earth!

  128. Btw I’ve been, uh, wishing i lived on a farm since book one. i love jess and I’m exactly like her minus:
    – im 5’5″
    – im also a dancer aside from singing
    – i don’t live on a farm or in the USA (I’m from Canada)
    – my school is elementary and middle schools all in one and there are no private schools around me
    – i do a few athletic things
    – i like to read your books (thats it really)
    EVERYTHING else is the same:
    – my hair is always in a braid (well most of the time)
    – im, like, really smart i guess according to my friends and family
    – i LOVE science (any kind but especially astronomy) and math
    – and pretty much everything else

  129. Perfect! Thank you so much! I can’t wait to read this book! It sounds really good!
Also, since its the summer between graduation and college, would it be like skipping your junior year? Plus, is it like, going to, i don’t know, have like, uh, travelling stuff or – i don’t know like, i guess what I’m trying to say is, what kind of camp is it?

    • It’s a summer camp in New Hampshire. And yes, we’re skipping a year and going straight to that summer…

  130. I’m so excited about the new mother daughter book club books! I read all of them and can’t wait to read more my favorite series!

  131. AHHHH!!!!! More MDBC?!? I want to cry but in a happy, excited way 🙂 Thank you so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so much!!!!!!!! I love love love love LOVE this series! I mean Emma Jess Cassidy Megan Becca Tristan Simon Stewart Darcy Dylan Ryan Mrs. Sloane- Kinkaid Mrs. H Mrs. Wong Mrs. Delaney Mrs. Chadwick AND ALL THE DADS and of course course course GIGI!!! OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS ME THIS IS AMAZING

  132. Squee!!!!!!!!! When I read in the 6th one that it was the end, I cried! This is my favorite series ever! My favorite character has to be Megan, although I look nothing like her. My friends say I look like Becca.

  133. Who is gonna be on the front of this one because on each one I’ve noticed that who ever the most interesting thing happens to is on the front.
1st-Jess, and her mom finally comes home
2nd-Cassidy, and her mom gets married
    3rd-Megan, and Gigi comes
4th-Emma, and she moves to England
5th-Becca, and her dad loses his job
6th-Megan, again and Sophie comes and Megan goes to Paris and Gigi gets married!

    • All will be revealed soon — I know the designers are working on the cover right now! I hope to have a sneak peek for you all in a bit. 🙂

  135. did you get the idea for jess to go to columbus academy from a personal experience or that of a friend? If so, please say what the name of the boarding school is.

    • There’s a lovely private boarding school in the real Concord, Massachusetts, which is called Concord Academy. Colonial Academy is inspired IN PART by that school — but mostly it’s made up. 😉

  136. I only found out about the next installment about now… a little late 🙂
Last year was really tough for me with anxiety and depression (bleck!), and I’m so grateful to all the authors that made my “comfort books”!! It might be pretty pressuring to do a 7th book, but whatever you write, people will love it 🙂
Some of my friends and mothers and I are also doing a mother-daughter book club! Thank you, and I love your characters and all your awesomeness 😉

    • So glad you’re doing better now! And happy that you’re going to be in an MDBC of your own — you will LOVE it! 🙂

  137. Will Becca and Theodore Rochester be together?

My Best Friend and I started a Mother Daughter Book Club because of these books! We are doing really well! and have read, Anne of Green Gables, The Tale of Desperaux and a few others, we are up to Wonder this month.

    • I am so Excited!!!!!!!!! YOU ROCK SO MUCH HEATHER!!!!!!!!!
When I had first finished reading the 6th book (I have read the series about 25 times), I was practically crying at the thought of the end off the Mother Daughter Book Club Girls! ;(

      • Hi Hannah — wow! Your enthusiasm just made my day! I’m so happy that YOU’RE so happy! As for a movie, well, that’s up to Hollywood. Meanwhile, though, I have to tell you, the audio versions of the books are FABULOUS. The first one has just been released, and the others will be coming over the next few months. Listening is like watching a movie in your head. At least it’s that way for me! 😉

  138. OMG!!! I cannot believe it at alllll!!! I love the mother daughter book club and I am obsessedddd <3 Can't wait until 2016 <3

  141. I have a question. Are Theo and Becca going to be like Megan and Simon. Also, I can’t believe that you didn’t put Becca with Third. You HAVE to make a mother daughter book club movie Ms. Heather. I LOVE THESE BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!

    • I’m so glad you love these books! All answers to questions will be revealed in the 7th book! 🙂

  142. OMG, I love this series!! I’ve always wanted to be like Cassidy, sporty and all, but I wasn’t born to do it. I feel like I’m a bit of all the girls, especially Emma. I want to be a writer, because I really love to read!! Okay, I have a small thing for design, but not for clothes, just jewelry. I also am semi good at teaching, and love love LOVE to bake. And like Jess, I am a 4.0 student. At the moment I’m on HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS, but totally psyched for this one. Just plzzzz make more because I will go on my knees and cry if you end it there. Such a brilliant series, and like Emma I hope one day I can write books like you. I also enjoy making poems. Thanks for these brilliant books, and I am thrilled for this one. My school library just got them, and I think many girls out there like me love these books, and sees what high things they can achieve with their hobbies. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

    • Thank YOU for your enthusiasm, Audrey! It’s readers like you who make my job worthwhile!!!

    • So boys can’t enjoy good stories with girls in them? I’m a girl and I read and enjoy stories with boys in them! Ha! I’m delighted to know you’re a fan!!! 🙂
