Fan mail Friday

I have loads to fun artwork to share with you over the next weeks, but today I’m only going to share one piece. It’s by Zoe, who came to see me with several of her charming friends on a stop on my recent book tour.

I was sitting at a long table with a panel of authors, feeling a bit nervous (book signings can do that to a person), so at first I didn’t even notice this group of lovely girls clutching copies of their favorite books from my Mother-Daughter Book Club series.

Yep, that nervous!

It wasn’t until one of the OTHER authors at the table said, “I love your T-shirt!” to a girl sitting directly in front of me that I was finally able to focus.

Zoe 2014

This beautiful young woman is Zoe. (If you’re reading this blog post, Zoe, I hope you don’t mind me posting this picture of you — if you do, holler and I’ll take it down, OK?) She made the design on this T-shirt. Is it the cutest thing ever or what?!  I LOVE IT!!

But wait, it gets better. As she and her friends visited with me, Zoe passed me an incredible handmade card. (Mrs. Wong would be very proud of her.) Here’s the cover:

Zoe's drawing 1Inside, in addition to a charming note (I’m a sucker for a handwritten note, aren’t you?), was this utterly delectable drawing:

I adore all the little details — Emma clutching a copy of Jane Eyre, Cassidy in her hockey stick earrings and Bruins shirt, Jess with her braid and farm boots, Megan with her stylish hair and outfit, and Becca looking ever-so-slightly like Chadwickius frenemus…

And that pretty border! It’s just the icing on the cake.

Zoe, THANK YOU! I loved meeting you and your friends, and you have no idea how much it meant to me to receive this beautiful gift that day!

  1. Wow that t shirt is awesome. I love the card too. So cool. That drawing is so cute. I love all the details too. Zoe if you are reading this you did a great job and you are so pretty! I wish I could meet you heather. Sadly you have been going no where near me.

    • Virginia, you can always send me an email (go to the “contact” page on my website) and let me know which book you want an autographed book plate for (book plates are stickers that go inside a book), and I’ll send it to you. 🙂 Not QUITE the same as getting a book autographed in person, but pretty close… 😉
