    • By the way, I got Yours Truly and finished it in the same day. πŸ™‚ It was an AMAZING sequel to Absolutely Truly and I hope there are more to come.

      • Thank you, Olivia! I’m thrilled that you enjoyed it (and yes, there will be more to come). πŸ™‚

  1. Congratulations Skye!
Lucky duck, I’ve tried so many times, but my time has not come yet :(…however I am determined that one day it will πŸ™‚

  2. Congrats Skye! Also, Heather, do you randomly pick a winner or do you choose? I’ve been curious! πŸ™‚
p.s. – whenever i dont have a book to read and i go to my bookshelf, i automatically grab the mother daughter book club and once im done i read the rest of series! that happened a couple nights ago and i just finished Much Ado About Anne! πŸ˜‰

    • It’s random, Mary. I write all the names down on slips of paper, then close my eyes and pick one. πŸ™‚

  3. Will you have a giveaway for “Yours Truly” soon? I always love reading your books and unfortunately my library will probably get it six months from now. πŸ™‚

  4. Is there going to be a giveaway for Yours Truly? Haven’t gotten a chance to go out and get it yet, but I’m super excited to read it!

  5. Dear Heather, (this is rather long)

Yours Truly and Absolutely Truly are amazing books. They are the first books I’ve read by you, but I will definitely read other books you have written, too. In a way I feel like Lauren because I’m a book worm, LOVE cats and kittens (any animal, actually), a bit of a pest (Yes, I just admitted that.), and I just finished fourth grade. Also, I’ve tapped off every wall in my house. πŸ™‚ At first (in Yours Truly) I kind of disliked Mackenzie because she seemed so… perfect, but now I’m happy she came to visit because I love the idea of Calhoun and Truly together! Squeeee! Please keep it that way! For a while I was wondering why you wanted Truly to be a bird lover, but then I remembered your name had “Vogel” in it, and me being German (awesome, because the original Truly is too) I knew it meant bird. I’ve actually seen an owl in the wild before, it was awesome. Speaking of German, I’m going to Germany this year… (I’m first generation American.)

I can’t believe Truly can deal with 4 siblings, I have a younger brother and he annoys me to death. There will be another Truly book, right? If there is, for Miss Marple’s Picks, here are some books I like:

    Fly away (Forgot the author)
The Lost Track of Time by Paige Britt

Also, here’s a recipe my dad and I make all the time (Maybe you could incorporate this into a book?):

Chocolate Banana Cake: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C) and place rack in the center of the oven. Butter, or spray with a non stick vegetable spray, a 9 x 13 inch (23 x 33 cm) pan. Set aside.

In a large bowl whisk together the sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

In another large bowl, whisk together the eggs, mashed bananas, water, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir, or whisk, until combined. You will notice that the batter is quite thin. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 35 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.

Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack. When completely cooled, frost with the Ganache.

Ganache: Place the chopped chocolate in a medium sized stainless steel, or heatproof bowl. Set aside. Heat the cream and butter in a medium sized saucepan over medium heat (can also be heated in the microwave). Bring just to a boil. Immediately pour the boiling cream over the chocolate and allow to stand for 5 minutes. Stir until smooth. When Ganache has completely cooled, beat until soft and fluffy (I use a wire whisk). Then spread the frosting on top of the cake. Can garnish with dried banana chips.

    Serves 16 people.

    Chocolate Banana Cake:

2 cups (400 grams) granulated white sugar

    1 3/4 cups (245 grams) all-purpose flour

3/4 cup (75 grams) unsweetened cocoa powder (regular or Dutch-processed)

    1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

    1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    2 large eggs

1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2 medium sized bananas)

1 cup (240 ml) warm water

    1/2 cup (120 ml) milk

1/2 cup (120 ml) corn, safflower or canola oil (or other flavorless oil)

1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

    Chocolate Ganache Frosting:

8 ounces (227 grams) semisweet or bittersweet chocolate, cut into small pieces

3/4 cup (180 ml) heavy whipping cream

1 tablespoon (14 grams) unsalted butter

In case you can’t tell, I’m a total fan girl of your books! Please make more!!! (Maybe a mystery the the PFPE could solve is that there aren’t anymore birds showing up to Pumpkin Falls? The title could be Truly a Disaster or Truly a Bird? Something along those lines?) (Also, are any of your book based off of your or one of your friend’s life?)

I really hope you are reading this, Heather. Have a Truly Great Day,

    • Alyson! What a great message to find waiting for me here — and oh my goodness your cake recipe looks absolutely truly SCRUMPTIOUS! πŸ˜‰ So glad you’re enjoying the Truly books — and yes, there will be more. I’m working on the next installment right now. And love it that you’ve seen an owl in the wild, too!

      • Omg! I can’t believe you replied! I love you soooo much! Sorry if I wasted your time. Also, one other question, I’ve been wanting to send you a package but I don’t know what P.O. box to use? I see two different ones on your website, the one under contact and the one in one of your FAQ answers.

(Going off of another one of your FA answers, you are probably writing/drafting right now. Good luck!)

        • You’re not wasting my time! Use the Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts P.O. box please. I need to update the FAQ!

      • Is this directed towards my comment? If it is, wow, you have a lot of siblings on your hands! I’m hoping you’re not the oldest? Being the oldest is hard, my little brother drives me nuts. LOL.

  6. Heather,

I just got Mother Daughter Book Camp and I am ITCHING to read it!!! I’m leaving to visit Germany tomorrow, and while I am on the plane I will have 8 hours to read it! (Usually books take 2-3 hours for me to read…)

    Love you!
