CANADA and CONCORD, here I come!

I’m thrilled to announce two upcoming bookstore appearances, in two of my very favorite places!

To help celebrate the launch of MOTHER-DAUGHTER BOOK CAMP, the seventh and final (sniff) book in my Mother-Daughter Book Club series, I’ll be heading first to Vancouver, British Columbia (yep, that’s right, my first appearance in CANADA!), and then on to Concord, Massachusetts, the town that started it all (the books are set in my old hometown, in case you didn’t know — talk about bringing it full circle…).

If you’re in either area, I’d love to see you! Please come join me on Monday, May 2, at 7 pm at Kidsbooks in Vancouver or Sunday, May 22nd at 3 pm at The Concord Bookshop in Concord (full details on both events here).

Warning: there may be dorky pictures of me at summer camp involved…

  3. Oh may goodness! I am SOOOO excited for you all! But you should seriously consider coming to Nebraska one of these days. I will definitely be equipped with my MDBC boxed-set and Absolutely Truly. 🙂

    • Isabella, did you know that you can email me (see the “Contact”) page on my website and I can send you back autographed book plates for any of my books you own? Just let me know which ones you want them for! I’m happy to do it, especially since it doesn’t look like I’ll be heading to Nebraska soon. 🙁

  4. I’m so happy for you!! But that also makes me sad. To bad you can’t come to Salt Lake City, UT. But at least you get to launch your book!!

  5. Aww! To any and everyone who gets to go to either event, lucky you!! I’ll just be holding it down in my local B&N…

  6. Can’t wait for the new book!!! Crossing my fingers I can go – I don’t THINK I have a game that weekend – and I will be praying till I’ve said every prayer possible thatI have the seventh book by then!

  7. Hi Heather,
I can’t wait for MDBC #7! I’m sooooo sad it’s the last one though. I’m trying to convince my parents to drive to Concord to come see you at the book store. We’re going to Boston on vacation this summer. Any chance you’ll be there at all? I’d love to have my collection of books signed and I’ve always wanted to meet you!
    Thank you,
    stephanie

    • I will likely be in Boston this summer, Stephanie — contact me (via the contact page here on my website) as your trip draws closer — perhaps we can arrange to meet up so I can sign your books. 🙂

  8. Hi Ms. Fredrick! I wrote to you a while ago regarding a book plate for my best friend. She absolutely LOVED it, so I just want to say thank you so much! My birthday was in March, and my aunt preordered the book for me. It ships the day that the book comes out and I am so excited!!! Although it’s a little bittersweet, since it’s the last one. Lastly, I have an app called PicCollage, which is sort of like Instagram but with collages. I did a book review on Absolutely Truly and posted it for my followers to see. I wish you could put pictures in comments so I could show you! I gave it a 5 star rating. Anyways, I’m very excited for the last MDBC book and the sequel to Absolutely Truly! -Emily

  9. Since my parents won’t allow me to get the hardcover version of the book, do you know when the paperback version is going to be released? I read the sneak peek of the Mother-Daughter Book Camp, and I’m sooo excited!

    • The paperbacks usually come out 6-12 months after the hardcover. But Megan, keep an eye on my blog, as I’ll DEFINITELY be hosting some giveaways for the new book soon! 🙂

  10. Rereading every book now, started late last night. About a quarter through MUCH ADO ABOUT ANNE which is one of my top two favorites (along with WISH YOU WERE EYRE). Getting ready for the new one to be in the library! DO YOU KNOW WHEN IT WILL BE AVAILABLE IN ANY LIBRARY? Im totally excited! Btw, I hope I doing you proud, Mrs. Fredrick. So far I’ve introduced the series to many people, at least 15 people! lol I even had my sister read all of the books. PLZ DONT LEAVE ME A! I love it more than any book I’ve ever read. And would do anything for it not to end. But:
“All good things must come to an end”

    • Check with your librarian, Mary. Did you know you can request that they purchase (or borrow from another library) any book you want to read? Libraries are fabulous that way! And THANK YOU for introducing the books to your family and friends! That’s the very best compliment. 🙂

  11. TODAY IS MAY 3RD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG the book is out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. Hi Mrs. Frederick!
I hope that everything goes well for you with both of your book signings. I wish I lived in Vancouver or Concord so I could meet you in person!
I just wanted to thank you for writing The MDBC series. I had the priviledge of reading and owning all of them including Mother-Daughter Book Camp which I bought on Sunday. I also own Absolutely Truly and Once Upon A Toad. These books are one of my most prized possessions and when I have kids I will share it with them! The MDBC series inspired me to read classics such as Anne of Green Gables and the Betsy-Tacy series which has become one of my favorite series. My favorite parts of Mother-Daughter Book Camp so far are the parts where Emma and Jess explore Pumpkin Falls on their night off, Jess’ plan to cure homesickness, meeting Pippa Lovejoy, Tara’s descriptions of New York, the camp songs are goofy, and the fact that Darcy and Jess are still together. Also, I really want to read Understood Betsy now. I read the synopsis on my phone and it sounds like a really heartwarming book.
PS. I can’t wait for Yours Truly to come out!!!

    • Thank you so much, Mireya! I’m so happy you enjoyed the book — well, ALL my books! And DEFINITELY read “Understood Betsy.” It’s fabulous! 🙂

  13. I got your book last night on my kindle and lets say I’ve been holed up reading it! It’s so good! I ended it a couple of hours ago with a tear as I’ve read every book about a thousand times and I am going to miss this serious. It was great to see the girls final prospective before they head off to college and how they finally feel being together for one summer and how every one has changed. Like in the book I feel like they are real people and all of this is real, since that is how your story makes me feel! Thank you so much for writing these and continuing them throughout the years! I wish there were more but seven is enough for me!

  14. I am sososososo excited!!!! I’m so glad you’re coming to concord! Heck I’m excited I happen to be there at the time. Me and my friend will see ya there!

  15. I just got the book!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am about halfway through and i just figured out the crossover with Absolutely Truly! I love it and it definitely lives up to my expectations. I wish it wasn’t the last:(

      • I finished! Just wanted to let you know that your own wisdom refers to your own book as well. I definitely want to go to camp lovejoy. Is it based on a real place? Also, I never thanked you for sending me the book plates for my friend. Thank you so much for that and also for writing these books. I wish it wasn’t the end.

        • You are so welcome, Clara. 🙂 Camp Lovejoy is LOOSELY based on several summer camps, including Camp Newfound in Maine, where I went when I was growing up, and Camp Lochearn in Vermont, where I worked a couple of summers. 🙂

  16. Are you absolutely sure that this is the last one? I’m almost done reading it, and I don’t think I can leave these girls behind. Thank you so so so much for writing this one, even if it is the last hurrah. I’ve been with the Mother Daughter Book Club since the very beginning, and I’m so happy that they get one last adventure.

    • I know, Catherine — it’s bittersweet, isn’t it? The good thing about books, though, is that our book friends are ALWAYS RIGHT THERE WAITING FOR US everytime time we open the cover. 😉

      • That’s why I will never stop rereading this series! The characters are always waiting there for me. They will not just dissappear when you stop writing about them

  17. Did you ever get the 2 emails I sent you? If not do you mind emailing me so I have your email?

    • Yes! I am so behind on answering emails — apologies, Liberty. I’ll be getting to them soon…

  18. Plz come to California. I just got ur last book in mother daughter book club series. I eagerly waited since you announced the last book date. I am so happy I got it like few min ago. Plz come to California . I will be sooooo happy to meet you

    • So happy you got it, Amoolya! No California plans at the moment — just California dreamin’, as they say…

  19. OHMYGOSH! im reading pies and prejudice and i’m crying becuase mrs. Bergson just passed away. Lets just say i had to take a break 🙂

Ps. Did u get my email about my sisters friends b-day?

  20. I won’t spoil the 7th book for anyone, but I must say it is a GREAT book!!! And I hope one day someone will get the very smart idea to make movies out of the MDBC books! (MY BFF and I keep saying if they are going to make movies, they have to get us two to choose Actors and Actresses, because we have spent days choosing the perfect actors and actresses ;D) Thank you for writing a 7th Book Heather!

  21. I just ordered your new book at my local library, Heather. Does it categorize under teens or kids? i put teens…hope that was right!

  22. Wow. I mean WOW. I just finished Mother Daughter Book Camp (which I had snatched off the ‘new releases’ shelf at my local library with pure excitement a couple days before) and even though it feels bittersweet, all I want to do is dive back in and smile and laugh and read all 321 pages again. I’m feeling that sense of completion and nonstalgia and awe and wonder and sadness and happiness all at once… WOW, just WOW. This book also gave me something I really needed- it has made me feel less frightened and anxious for the future- for what I am to be, and what is to come. I loved all the new characters (especially a certain head counselor), and loved the girls and their pranks more than ever before (SO much nostalgia). And the SETTING. We all know how beautiful Pumpkin Falls is during winter, but experiencing Camp Lovejoy in all its natural beauty was such a treat!!! I absolutely adored all the creative Camp Lovejoy traditions- everything was so unexpected and unique, in the best of ways! When Mrs. Hawthorne said that an author’s highest compliment was that their reader felt the desire to crawl into their world and experience it at the end of the book, she was absolutely right. I REALLY, REALLY want to go to Camp Lovejoy this summer!!! (Where do I sign up?) The atmosphere you’ve created in this book and all the others is heartwarming, comforting, and most importantly, entertaining!!! These books have always been a big part of my life and will always be special to me.
    Thank you!!!

    • You just totally MADE MY DAY! 🙂 Thank you so much for your warm words – they mean the world!!!!

  23. I can’t wait to read the 7th! I’m getting it (and reading it) tommorow!!!!!!

Thank you so much for the autographed bookplate!!!!! I put it in Pies and Prejudice, which is my favorite book.

PS: when are you going to do a post? Can you maybe do a Fan Mail Friday soon?

    Thanks!!!!!!!

    • I will post again soon, Sabina — I just moved and started a new job, and things have been SUPER BUSY for the past few months. Will be back in author mode again before long… 😉

  24. Hi Mrs. Fredrick! I’m reading absolutely truly and I LOVE it! I was wondering if there is a date for when the next one is coming out yet? Also, I got the 7th book in last week and have been putting off reading it because it’s so sad that it’s ending:( Just a suggestion, but have you ever thought about writing a new series about the guys POVs or on the girls at college? I’m in high school now and I would love to read about their collage experience and how the relationships play out! thanks for being awesome!

    • Hi Katie — SO glad you’re enjoying “Absolutely Truly” — the next one (“Yours Truly”) should be out in early 2017. And I admire your fortitude in waiting to read MDBCamp — wow! Know what you mean, though. As for more in the series, alas no. This is it. The rest, you’ll have to imagine yourself! 😀

      • Thank you so much for responding back to me! It made my day:) hopefully one day I’ll get the courage to write something from my notebook that I have all my ideas in, but it will never compare to your amazing books! They have helped me through so much in my life:)

        • Shakespeare said “comparison are odorous,” and he’s right, they STINK! Don’t compare yourself to anybody else. YOU have a unique voice, unique ideas, and they are uniquely wonderful and valuable. Just keep writing! 🙂

  25. Hi Ms. Frederick! I already read the 7th book in about 2 days! I absolutely love how all of the girls get to spend time with the next generation of possible “book clubbers.” After reading the first book, me and a friend started our own mother daughter book club and our first meeting was spent discussing -what else?- the first MDBC. I have read all of your books and I have to say that the MDBC series has been the most inspirational, watching the girls grow up and feeling like I am right there with them. I guess the only downside to your new book now is that people are now going to be wanting a sequel with the girls in college! I know that I would sure like that! Thanks for all that you have put in over the years! You’re the best!

    • Celestine, this is SO fun to hear — I’m delighted that you were inspired to start your own book club. They’re the best! 🙂

  26. Hi I can’t wait to read MDBC #7. I haven’t gotten it yet 🙁

I was wondering when there is going to be a new post. Maybe a giveaway?! 🙂

  27. Hey Heather. I really can’t wait to read the 7th book. I was wondering if there is going to be another giveaway soon. 🙂

    • Yours Truly should be in bookstores early next winter (either late 2016 or early 2017). At least that’s the plan at this point. I don’t have a firm publication date for you yet. Stay tuned!

  28. I read Mdbc #7 in 9 hours straight. finished 1 in the morning! It’s so great and am very upset i wont be able to read new adventures like these anytime soon… 🙁 Amy, Pippa Lovejoy, Nica, and all the other campers stood out to me as I read. I absolutely loved the drama and happiness in this book. I dont want it to end. I’ve never felt so strongly about something as much as this before….Long Live The Mother Daughter Book Club!
