Fan Art Friday

It’s been quite a few Fridays since I’ve posted fan art — we’re way overdue!  I have a trio of fun drawings to share with you today from my readers.

First up is Malory’s picture of Megan:

Supercute, right?!   Go, Malory!

Next, Eman gives us a glimpse into each of my book club girls’ personalities:

Love it!  (And have to tell you something funny — the first time I glanced at this, I wondered “Why is that hockey stick using a baby chick for a puck?!” Then I took a closer look and realized they were two separate drawings…)  Great job, Eman!

And finally, Caroline was asked to draw a scene from a book for a school project. She chose the moment in HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS where Becca and Megan are on a Christmas cruise, and Megan has just learned that she’s going to Paris with her grandmother. Megan is twirling in excitement, but Becca is disappointed. Caroline wrote, “I picked it because I could imagine it perfectly.”  Thanks to your drawing, Caroline, so can we!  Here it is:

You’re all rock stars, girls!  Thank you so much for sending me your beautiful artwork!

Fan Art Friday (sort of)

Something a little different this time around — a peek at a Mother-Daughter Book Club themed birthday party!  Ingredients include:

1. Friends (of course)

Book club 4

2. Fun table decorations (I love this idea!)

Book club party 2
3. More decorations (everyone brought something representing their favorite character–so clever!)

Book club 5

4. A fun party game (MDBC trivia — I want to play!)

Book club 3

And finally, a gorgeous thank you card for the author, who provided a brief video greeting and autographed bookmarks for the guests…

(The photo did double duty on the party invitations, too — cute, right?)

Thank you, Katie, for sharing this with us all!  And once again, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Fan Art Friday

Is it Friday again already?  This past week went by in a whoosh…

I have more great art to share with you today — this time around a lovely black-and-white line drawing by Emma.  Double-click on it for a closer look.

As always, I’m amazed and impressed!  Beautiful work, Emma!

Fan Art Friday

It’s my favorite day of the week — the day I get to turn the spotlight on YOU!

(I’m fond of Story Starter Saturday for the same reason.)

I’m turning over a NEW LEAF for 2014, and am going to try and not only get caught up with all my mail, but stay caught up with all my mail.

We’ll see how that works out, right?

Heh.

So to those of you patiently awaiting replies to your letters and emails, hang in there a little longer. I’m diving into my pile o’ mail even as we speak…

Meanwhile, I have a treat for you.  First of all, a glorious self-portrait of Miranda and Sofia, who were 11 when they sent me these pictures LAST SUMMER, and are probably, like, 27 by now. And have grown long, gray beards waiting for me to finally, FINALLY, post their pictures!Miranda & Sofia

Could they possibly be any cuter?  I don’t think so.

Isn’t this a great picture for a cold, rainy Northwest winter day (cold and snowy where many of you are)? Such a blast of summer! I’m keeping it here on my desk to remind me that warmer days are coming…

And here’s the drawing that Sofia did for me:

Sofia's artSimply stellar, Sofia!  (stellar: of or relating to the stars; outstanding — in other words, you’re a star, Sofia!)

Thank you so much, girls — your cheerful faces, lovely letter, and delightful drawing absolutely made my day!

Stop by tomorrow as we kick of the brand-new year with a brand-new Saturday Story Starter.

Fan Art Friday

Now that I’m back in town for a while (more about my travels later), I finally have time to share with you  some of the AMAZING, INCREDIBLE fan art that has found its way to me recently!

When this particular package came in the mail a few months ago (yes, shame on me, it’s been that long since I’ve had a chance to sit down and organize my blog), I was speechless. Just. Speechless. The care and love and thought and artistry that went into making each of these lovely friendship bracelets–color coordinated to match the corresponding books–totally blew me away.

So Brianna, today’s post is ALL ABOUT YOU!  I’m sending love & hugs your way, as words are inadequate to tell you how much your beautiful gift meant to me. I’ll treasure them always, along with your letter.

These photographs don’t do Brianna’s craftsmanship justice, I’m afraid. If you click on them, though, it should enlarge them so you can see at least some of the detail.

Fabulous (as Wolfgang would say), right? Here’s a closeup of the bracelets on their own:

Just had a brilliant thought:
I’m going to hang them on my Christmas tree this year!
