Yours Truly is here!

Actually, it’s been here for a while… but we still need to celebrate, right?

How does a giveaway sound? Good? OK, then, let’s do it!

I have two copies of YOURS TRULY to give away. It’s the second in my Pumpkin Falls mystery series featuring middle school private eye Truly Lovejoy and her family. This time around, maple syrup plays a featured role.

Yes, you heard me right — maple syrup!  In fact, ALL things maple. So, to enter the giveaway, just leave a comment below sharing your favorite maple treat and/or maple memory.

I’ll go first. My favorite maple treat? It’s a toss-up between maple sugar candy and maple walnut ice cream (preferably homemade — or from Kimball Farm). As for my favorite maple memory, that stretches w-a-y back in time to when I was a wee thing.

This isn’t a great picture, alas, but the memory is sharp and clear. That’s toddler me, being carried by my oh-so-glamorous mom somewhere in New Hampshire. We were visiting a sugar house (or sugar shack, as they’re sometimes called – you can see one pictured on the cover of YOURS TRULY). That’s where maple sap is turned into maple syrup. I can still smell that fragrant steam!

The winner will be chosen at random at midnight on May 15, 2017. Share this giveaway on your blog or Facebook or Twitter or Pinterest or other social media for additional entries. (If you share on social media, please leave a link in the comments below so I can assign you an extra entry.)  U.S. and Canada only, please. Have fun!

Interview & giveaway on Writer Mama!

I’m on deck today as part of Christina Katz’s fun Writer Mama Every-Day-in-May-Book-giveaway!

Click here to hop on over and read an interview with yours truly, and to enter for a chance to win a complete set of my SPY MICE novels (autographed, of course)!

I’ve been thoroughly enjoying reading what the other writers have to say about the giveaway’s theme topic of self-expression, and what this means to an artist.  You’ll get to add your two cents as well, so what are you doing still here?  Off you go!

Happy 200th to PRIDE AND PREJUDICE!

Welcome to my stop on the Pride and Prejudice 200th Anniversary Blog Hop!  First, a valentine to our own dear Jane, and then a giveaway to celebrate…

January 28, 2013

Dear Jane,

Whatever would this world be without your wonderful novel? Although you felt that Pride and Prejudice was perhaps too “light, and bright, and sparkling,” I can assure you that the rest of us beg to disagree.

From readers who adore you and who turn to your books for entertainment, enlightenment, and yes, sometimes comfort, to those of us who fancy ourselves writers, where, I ask you, would we be without your sparkling wit to inspire us to greater heights of achievement?  Or your clever dialogue and unforgettable characters to fill us with glee?  Mr. Collins!  Lady Catherine de Bourgh!  Caroline Bingley and the featherheaded Mrs. Bennet! And of course one of literature’s most enduring and timeless couples, Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy.

Sigh.

Just thinking about all this makes me want to take my well-loved copy of your book from the shelf and reread it.  So I think I shall, but first, let me just wish you the very happiest of anniversaries (no small feat to have remained in print for two centuries). Wherever you are, dear Jane, I hope you know how very much you and your books are loved.

Your faithful literary admirer,

Heather Vogel Frederick

And now, because I can’t resist an excuse for a giveaway, I’d like to give one reader a copy of my own PIES & PREJUDICE (betcha can’t guess what book inspired THAT!).  All you have to do to enter is leave a comment here and tell us what you love about Jane Austen and Pride and Prejudice.  If you haven’t read the book yet, tell us when you plan to, OK?

PIES & PREJUDICE cover

US/Canada only, please.  The deadline is Sunday February 3rd at midnight PST.  Winner will be announced Monday, February 4th.

Can I go home now?

Look who was waiting for me when I drove up to get her at “doggie daycare” today …

That’s our Billie on the left.  Is she a cutie pie or what?  Don’t know who her pal is on the right, but he or she is pretty adorable, too!

It’s a rainy day here in Oregon, so Bonnie and Billie went off to play with their friends for a few hours.  They’re home now, resting up for their big moment in the spotlight this weekend — choosing the winners of the two GIVEAWAYS!  Stay tuned for the announcements…

And now for something completely different…

Ta-da!  I promised you all a sneak peek of ONCE UPON A TOAD, my new book coming out in April, and it’s finally ready.  Click here to hop on over (*groan*–bad pun, sorry!) and read the excerpt.

I also promised you a fun giveaway, so here we go.  Since this book is WILDLY different from my mother-daughter book club stories, take a deep breath and switch gears.  Then leave a comment below telling us which is your favorite fairy tale and why.  That’s it, simple as that.  You’ll be entered to win an ARC (Advance Reader’s Copy) plus a copy of the original book jacket (the one pictured here has been tweaked–you’ll have fun spotting the differences).  I’ll autograph both for you.

If you tweet this, blog about it, mention it on Facebook, or tell a friend who then also comments below, you’ll receive an additional entry for the drawing.  (U.S. and Canada only, please.)  Two winners will be chosen at random after midnight Pacific Time on February 20th, and announced on the 21st.

**For all of you baby boomers out there — or non-baby boomers, why not? — a bonus entry for the first three people who recognize the TV show catchphrase mentioned somewhere in this post and email me about it…

Podcast interview at Authors are ROCKSTARS!

Allison and Michelle at Authors are ROCKSTARS! are debuting a new feature this month called “KidLit Corner.”  Guess who had the honor of being their first guest?  Yup.  Me!

Click here to hop on over and listen to our audio podcast interview.  (You can also download the mp3 file, or find the interview on iTunes.  Cool, huh?)

We had a blast — Allison and Michelle are smart and funny, and they put me right at ease.  Plus, do you love their logo or what?  That’s rockin’ Jane Austen on the drums in case you’re wondering…

But wait, there’s more!  After you listen to the interview, be sure and follow the directions on their blog to be entered in the giveaway for an autographed copy of HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS!  Wheeeeeeeeeee…

It’s raining (snowing?) holiday giveaways!

In addition to yesterday’s Cynsations giveaway, I’m thrilled to announce that Stiletto Storytime’s Holiday Read-a-Thon new mini challenge features ANOTHER special prize pack!

All this could be yours!

That’s right, my dears — you have yet another opportunity to take home an autographed copy of my new mother-daughter book club installment HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS, PLUS the BETSY-TACY TREASURY (which contains the first four books in Maud Hart Lovelace‘s series:  BETSY-TACY, BETSY-TACY and TIB, BETSY AND TACY GO OVER THE BIG HILL, AND BETSY AND TACY GO DOWNTOWN), PLUS the first two BETSY-TACY “high school” books (HEAVEN TO BETSY and BETSY IN SPITE OF HERSELF), PLUS this totally cool BETSY-TACY canvas bag!

Be quick, though — this mini-challenge ends at midnight EST on Monday, December 5th.  Click here to hop on over to Stiletto Storytime and enter!
